Council Minutes of 4/5/83
- 3-
2) Reminded Council and the Administration that a joint meeting of the Long Range
Planning Committee and the Landmarks Commission would be held Apri1 14th, at
7:30 P.M., in regard to restoratian and use of Town Hall. Hss alreadg received in-
put from the comunity; anyone unable to attend meeting on the 14th can pass on any
suggestions to the Chairman of the Landmarks Commission or to Mrs. Petrigac.
3) Will also schedule a Long Range Planning Committee Meeting for April 20th at
8:00 P.M. to discuss the vacant land, owned by the City, and proposals for its use
or non-use. Would request the Mayor, Safety Director and Building Commi.ssioner to
be in attendance.
4) Would request the Finance Director to prepare a financial statement as to what
has been spent, to whom and for what amounts, so that the Committee would have a
handle on what has been spent to date and what is left in regard to the entire
City Complex.
Mr. Woerpel, Chairma.n Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: 1) The
BZD Committee met on Thursday, March 31st, with all members present as well as
City Engineer Zurawski, Building Commissioner Gundy and several intersted residents.
Primary purpose of the meeting was to hear from Denelopers Diversified regarding
their proposal, however, Mr. John McGill of Devefopers Diversified was detained in
Pittsburgh. Meeting has been reacheduled for Thursday, April 28th, at 7:30 P.M.
2) Committee then heard from William Hollenbeck of Buddy Simon Sign Company and
Mr. Dale Chorba, Director of Franchising Sa1es for Casey's. They requested approval
for the illumination of the pole sign's pole. It has been wired so that the pole
itself would be illuminated and this was not in accordance with earlier approval.
They have disconnected the wires but are requesting that this be allowed. Committee
referred them back to the ARB and Planning Commission for review and recommendation.
3) Discussed with Mr. Gundy the number of signs authorized from February l, 1983, to
the end of March, based on the new ordinance approved last year, which he had approved
without going to ARB and Planning Commnission. Thege were all replacement signs and
nothing out of the ordinary.
4) Also discussed with Commissioner Gundy the construction progress of the new City
Center, including some change orders that have been requested.
In response to Mr. Wilamosky's question, Mr. Woerpel advised that when first in-
stalled, Casey's sign did not meet the setback requirements. Bui3ding Commissioner
sv informed Casey's; they reset the sign; it now meets the setback requirements.
Mr. McKay, Chairman Environmental Control Committee as well as Public Safety, Health
and Welfare Committee reported: 1) The Litter Control and Recycling Council met
Wednesday, March 29th, follawir4g, the announcement by the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources that the City of North Olmsted had been awarded a$25,000 grant for litter
control. Committee discussed varoius aspects of the litter control program, including
the timetable to be met in purchasing and installing $23,970 worth of litter re-
ceptacles. Legislation is on the agenda authorizing the Service Director to advertise
for bids for the receptacles in the 55 gallon capacity range. These will have stone
aggregate sides and include permanent anchor bolts. Would ask Council to move this
ordinance along as rapidly as possible so the bid process cauld begin. The log,•o
contest entries are due in the Mayor's office on Monday, Ma.y the 2nd at 4 P.M.
Coumtittee will review and select one winner with honorable mentions going to one entry
in each grade category. Committee expressed a desire to place receptacles near the
North Olmsted Library and some of the school sites if this meets the grant application
guidelines. Next committee meeting is scheduled for May 2nd.

;
