Council Minutes of 3/15/83 '3- <br />Mr. Bierman, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee reported: <br />40 1) The Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee met on March 7th with <br />all members present. President Boehmer, Councilman McKay, Wilaatosky and Petrigac, <br />as well as Mr. Ed Graves were also in attendance. Committee discussed the 1983 <br />Recreation budget and by unanimoue vote recomnends the budget be agproved to the <br />Finance Committee with the addition to the budget of the Summer Rink Program, with <br />modifications subjeet to the City's budget. Also, that the Stumwr Playground Pro- <br />gram, with modifications subject to the City's budget, be puC back in the budget. <br />2) Committee discussed a line item concerning an employee's longevity and recommended <br />the line item be deleted fram the budget. <br />3) Discussed Ordinance No. $3-26 regarding the sale of the five hames on Dover <br />Center Road. The ordinance language wsa not understood by the Committee with <br />regard to whether the homes wauld be sold as a package or indivic2ually; Chairman <br />has written a letter to Law Direetor for clarification. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Intra-Govemmental Relations and Legislation Committee had <br />no report; scheduled meeting on March 7th was not held due to the l.engthy Recreation <br />Committee Meeting; Legislation Comittee Meeting wi11 be reschedul.ed. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairman Environmental Control Committee as well as Public Safety, Health <br />and Welfare Committee reported: 1) On Wednesday, March 2nd, Safety Comittee dis- <br />cussed Resolutf:an No. 83-24 pertaining to the 1igh.ting of the Coamntunity Cabin park- <br />ing lot. Four lights will be installed on two poles in the parking lot, with two <br />lights at the entrance to the cabin area. Committee reconnsends Council's approval. <br />2) Moved Council have no objection to an F2 Iiquor permit for the 0lmsted Falls <br />Hoekey Association event to be held at 24271 Lorain Road, secand by Mr. Bierman, <br />unanimously approved. <br />3) Moved Council have no objection to a new D1 liquor liEense for pover Investment <br />Company, dba Olive Branch, Grea.t Northern Shopping Center, 4917 Great Northern <br />Boulevard, second by Mr. Wilamosky, unanimously approved. <br />4) Council had previously objected to and requested a hearing for liquor licenses <br />for Rite Aid of Ohio, dba Rite Aid Diacount Pharmacy, an.d C1ark 0i1 and Refining <br />Corporation, dba C1ark Super 100; hearing is scheduled for April 19, 1983, <br />10:30 A.M., Justice Center Auditorium, first floor of the Justice Center, 1200 <br />Ontario Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. <br />5) Recreation Commission taet Tuesday, March 8th. Following programs have begun: <br />gymnastics, exercize class, Learn to Swim and Learn to Skate. The Band Scream, winner <br />of the North Olmsted High School Battle of the Bands, will pla.y at the Mareh 25th <br />night skate. North Olmsted's Recreation Department was represented by Don Eckert <br />and Jan Duranza at the Westgate Ma.ll's "Let's Get Physical Weekend" the weekend of <br />March 5th and 6th. <br />6) Letter was sent to the PZorth Olmsted Junior Womens' Club asking for consideration <br />when the Club's 1983 donations are decided. Last year, was the recipient of a Kodak <br />slide projector. <br />7) Lorain Irving Junior High Schaol has been booked for an instructural trip to the <br />Complex. They will review demonstrations in the pool, rink, swim and skate areas <br />on April 14th. <br />8) A promotion with Dairy Queen has been planned for the month of April; this is <br />' an exchange program with two for one coupons. <br />9) Olmsted Falls Recreation will visit the Complex for the second time this year on <br />March 19th. <br />10) A proposal was ma.de by Cu11en Thompson to build a BMX track at the Complex, at <br />not cost to the City; more information wi11 be forthcoming. <br />11) With respect to Ordinanee No. 83-34, authorizing the Mayor to enter into an <br />agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, this wi11 be the beginning <br />of the Litter Control Program which was planned by the Litter Control and Recycling <br />. .._ . ; <br />:: ,
