Council Minutes o£ 3/I5/83 <br />-5- <br />Larry Mason, North Olmsted Police Department, stated that the Police Officers <br />are in complete agreement with the letter from the Firemen and have co-signed. <br />Police Department is disappointed because good faith negotistians had started, <br />are still in process, and now the ordinance is being introduced to take away a <br />benefit they already had. Mr. Wilamosky again stated that this would NQT affect <br />present employees; only the policeman or fireman hired dc>wct the road. Officer Ma.son <br />stated that it would affect him down the road because he would be working with <br />men wno are being paid less than he is. <br />Bob Willkomm, North Olmsted Service Department asked if this would affect their <br />Memorandum of Understanding. Mr. Wilamcrsky stated "no, members of AFSCME are <br />excluded beesuse of contraet agreements". <br />AJ <br />Russ Riopelle, North Olmsted Fireman/Paramedic stated they would like to talk to <br />the comaaittee members who are assigned the legislation. Also, the discrepancy in <br />wages will definitely affect the norale of future police axtd £iremn and very <br />likely cause a rift in the department if the legislation is passed. <br />Ken Krivok, Vice President of Deerfield Paxk Civic Association presented a letter <br />from the associat3on requesting that a traffic light on Columbia Road, at the <br />interaection of Fawn Drive and Rose Road, be considered in the 1983 budget. Mayor <br />advised that this had already been placed in the budget; City of Westlake aad <br />North Olmsted plan to split the cost; both Engineering Departaents are working on <br />it; the light will be insta11er3. <br />David Kaman, Co-chairman of the North Oimsted Condominium Owners' Association, <br />spoke on behalf of Woodscape, Norfih Woods, Kings Path, Clareshixe, Olmsted Park, <br />Barton Woods, Jefferson, Clague Towers and Jamestown condominium owners and <br />requested the City enact emergency legislation authorizing that trash removal be <br />given to condominiums. After diacussion, Mayor advised that Council would dis- <br />cuss this further; inform Mr. I€amwn when the meetfngs will be held on this subject <br />and what conclusions were reached. <br />Frank Briggs, Woodscape Condominiums, asked if he could get a real estate tax <br />credifi for the cost of his trash removal; could it be applied to his RTTA tax. <br />Mayor replied it could not, however, there is the option of placing the trash at <br />the curb and the City would certainly piek it up. <br />3ohn McGill, 34555 Chagrin Boulevard, representative of Developers' Diversified, <br />stated that the Planning Commissioa had denied their request to rezone a 42 acre <br />parcel of land on the southwest Quadrant of 1480 and proposed relocated Route 252 <br />for two separate uses - a Motor Services District and a Mixed Use District. Asked <br />Council to reconsider. Wi11 leave some plans so Council can review the project. <br />President Pro Tem asked that the plans be given to Mr. Woerpel, Chairman Building, <br />Zoning and Development Committee, where they will be considered and requested <br />Mr. Woerpel advise Mr. McGi11 of fihe meeting so that he can address the comnittee. <br />Jerry Hudson, Butternut Ridge Road, asked if this would be a public meeting for <br />anyone to attend; would like some notification. <br />Robert Sharp, 25407 Butternut Ridge Road, asked that he be the person notified <br />when this is broughfi before the BZD Committee, phone 777-9095. <br />Mrs. Thirlie Genzano, President of the Board of Kings Path Gondominiums asked to <br />see a copy of the petition from Kings Path owners. President Pro Tem advised her <br />to see the Clerk of Council right after the meeting.
