Council Minutes of 3111$3 <br />-5- <br />4) Planning Commission unanimously rejected a progosal from Developers Diversi- <br />fied, Inc. to rezone 42.91 acres, at relocated S.R. 252, I-480 and Butternut Ridge <br />Road, from Class A residential to Matorist Serviee and HLixed Use District. <br />5) BZD Committee wi11 atteupt to hold its regular mnnthly meetings on the fonrth <br />Thursday of each month at 7:30 P.M. as was done 1asC year, however, Committee will <br />not meet on March 24th. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Comaittee reported: <br />1) Moved Council instruct the Clerk af Council to prepare a letter to the Ohio <br />Department of Liquor Control stating that Council has no objection to the issuance <br />of an F2 liquor license for the Olmsted Falls Hockey Association's 5t. Patrick's <br />Day Party to be held at the North Olms:ted Party Center, 29271 Lorain Rasd, on <br />March 17, 1983, second by Mr. Woerpel, unanimousZy approved. <br />2) Moved Couneil have no objection to the transfer of a C2 and C2X liquor Zicense <br />from First National Supermarkets, Inc., dba Pick N Pay, 25877 Brookpark Road, <br />to First National Sugermarkets, Inc., dba Pick N Pay, 26350 Great Northern <br />Shopping Center, second by Mr. Woerpel, unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance Committee as well as Streets and Drainage Comittee <br />reported: 1) Finance Committee met on February 19th with Msyor and Finance D3rector <br />in attendance to discuss the Ma,yor's recommendations with respect to the 1483 <br />appropriations, as well as Ordtnance No. 83-21 which provides for the fixing of <br />compensation for the Council At-Large member.s for the term beginning January 1, 1984, <br />through December 31, 1987. Will be offering an amendment to this legislation. <br />Committee attempted to break down the appropriation ordinance on a line item basis <br />and is determined that the recommendation will be nat to adopt the agpropriation <br />ordinance in the form submitted. Committee feeZs some changes are stili necessary <br />and hopefullq wi11 meet with Council-as-a-Whole to discuss. Further discussions on <br />this sub3ect were held on February 23rd and 24th and Council has received a <br />"working" copy of the ordinance for their consideration. <br />Mr. Woerpel asked what amendments the Committee was considering with respect to <br />Ordinance No. 83-21, the Council At-Large wages. Mr. Wilamosky replied that the <br />Coartnittee would recoimnend that the Council At-Large wages, with the term beginning <br />in 1984 not exceed that of the Ward Councilmen. Feels that this too is something <br />that might be discussed by Council-as-a-Whole. <br />People addressing Council: <br />Mrs. Pat McLeod, 30860 North Court; Mr. James J. Carter, 30859 South Court; <br />Mr. Steve Bowman, 6662 Wedgewaod; Mrs. Ruth Stevens, Wedgewood, addressed Council <br />with respect to the rezoning as provided for in Ordinance Nos. 83-2 and 83-3 <br />and restated their opinions that this would be highly detrimental to their property <br />and way of life; suggested a 30 day delay before the legislation is voted on. <br />Mrs. Saringer moved Council recess for <br />Roll call on motion: Affirmative vote: <br />Negative vote: Logan, McKay, taoerpel. <br />recessed for three minutes. <br />three minutes, second by Mrs. Petrigac. <br />Bierman, Petrigac, Saringer, Wilamosky. <br />4 Aye - 3 Nay - Motion carried. Council <br />Mr. Tim Flannery, 3640 Dawn Drive and Mr. Terry Relly, 27976 Edgepark asked if <br />the ice rink could be kept open this summer to accommodate the figure skaters, <br />hockey players, power skaters and public skating. Mr. McKay reported that the <br />is reason the rink closed last summer was because it needed repairs. Mayor s[aCed <br />that all the summer recreation programs would be evaluated and considered during <br />budget meetings with the Finance Comnittee. Mr. Petre reported that the budget <br />submitted by the Recreation Commission does not include opening the ice rink during <br />the July and August months.
