<br />Mr. Bierman, Chairman Long Range Planning Committee reported: 1) Committee met with
<br />Council-as-a-Whole on May 7th and 15th to discuss requests for Community Development
<br />Block Grant monies. Two recommendations were formulated. "A" recommendation is as
<br />follows: Renovation of Old Town Hall - $15,000; Horizons' Center - $20,000; Butternut
<br />Ridge Road improvement (from Dover Road west to the intersection of Porter and Lorain
<br />Roads) - $18,000; Gessner Road improvement - $7,000; restrooms at the Senior Citizens'
<br />Center (to make it easier for disabled persons, in wheel chairs, to enter and exit) -
<br />$3,000; Community Cabin rewiring - $9,000; an alternate to pave Lorain Road, from
<br />Brookpark Road to the Fairview Line. The .other "B" recommendation is paving of
<br />Lorain Road - $40,000; rewiring of Community Cabin - $9,000; Senior Center restrooms -
<br />$3,000; Butternut Ridge Road improvement, fram Dover to Porter Roads, - $17,897;
<br />repaving Lessner Road (from Lorain to Walter Road) - $6,000; alternates would be the
<br />improvement of Dewey Road; a traffic island at the intersection of Porter, Lorain and
<br />Butternut Ridge Roads; the Danbury ditch (improving run-off water conditions in the
<br />area); rehabilitation of Old Town Hall, Horizons' Center and home rehabilitation.
<br />Mr. Bierman moved Council adopt either recommendation "A" or "B" by so statiing,
<br />second by Mrs. Saringer. Roll call on motion: Mr. Bierman stated "A", Mr. O'Grady
<br />stated "B", Mrs. Petrigac stated "A", Mr. Rademaker stated "A", Mrs. Saringer stated
<br />"B", Mr. Tallon stated "B", Mr. Wilamosky stated "B". Recommendation "A" - 3 votes -
<br />Recommendation "B" - 4 votes - Recommendation "B" adopted.
<br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation Committee re-
<br />ported: 1) Council-as-a-Whole Committee met on May 7th with Councilmen Tallon, O'Grady,
<br />Wilamosky, Bierman, Petrigac and Saringer in attendance as well as Mr. Gil Richland
<br />from Great Northern and two representatives from CEI. Purpose of the meeting was to
<br />familiarize Council with the street lighting plan, roadway lighting plan, from Country
<br />Club Boulevard to the Biskind property, that will eventually be coming. Mr. Biskind
<br />has installed the underground cable from Great Northern up, running on his property.
<br />2) As reported by Mr. Petre, Recreation Commission Meeting was held on May 8th.
<br />Mrs. Saringer chaired the meeting until Mr. O'Rourke was in .attendance. Mr. Couts,
<br />Mr. O'Rourke and Mr. Petre will draw up a master plan; upon its completion, they
<br />will meet with the Recreation Commission and decide what will be done, what should
<br />be done and what can be done with the monies available.
<br />3) A letter of resignation was read from Mr. Bob Knopf, the School Board's repre-
<br />sentative to the Commission.
<br />4) Although Mayor Swietyniowski had assured Mrs. Saringer that he would have his
<br />recommendations for filling the vacancies on various Boards and Commissions available
<br />weeks ago, she still has not received them. Requested that they be presented this
<br />evening; feels the Mayor is being lax in his duty since the openings are long standing.
<br />5) Wished to remind everyone that the Community Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, May 27th,
<br />at the Recreation Center.
<br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee reported:
<br />1) Committee met on Thursday, May 10th, with all members present as well as Council-
<br />man Tallon, Safety Director Petre and Police Captain Brow. Purpose of the meeting
<br />was to discuss the request of Mrs. Sokol to review the speed limit on Porter Road.
<br />Captain Brow reported that Porter Road, in North Olmsted, is 1.2 miles; has 114 residence
<br />all with driveways; has three intersections from the east and three from the west,
<br />two of which are cross streets. There were six accidents on Porter Road in 1982;
<br />six in 1983; three of these involved in3uries; speed was not a factor in any of the
<br />accidents. Mrs. Sokol presented a petition with sixty-eight signatures of Porter
<br />Road residents requesting that the speed limit be reduced to 25 MPH. She also pre-
<br />sented a letter from Leonard P. Frick, Director of Transportation for the North Olmsted
<br />School System, who advised that three years ago Porter Road was declared a hazardous
<br />street; school buses will only pick up and drop off children on their own side of
<br />the street. After much discussion, Committee recommended that the Porter Raad speed
