Council Minutes of 5/15/84
-6-
Mr. Robert Brookshire, 5140 Hampton Drive commented that the City uses the word
"priorities" as an excuse for a lot of things nat being done and the City is going
to pieces. He noted in Mrs. Petrigac's report about the Fire Department that two
vehicles were in desperate need of repairing or replacing. There is legislation on
the agenda. tonight for $11,000 for a new car for the Mayor. Would like Council to
get its priorities straight.; use the money for necessities and let the Mayor's new
car wait for a while. Mrs. Petrigac pointed out that the Transportation Committee
was not unanimously in favor of. the new car for the Mayor, .nor was the entire Council.
Many issues passed by Council are not necessarily the priorities of the entire Council.
Mr. Ralph Burns, SOI4 West Park Drive, stated that the north end of the Park is an
eyesore to the entire community and gets worse and worse every year. People are
tired of broken promises and want action. Air. Burns asked those people in the
audience who were tired of the eyesore at the Park to stand up. Mr. Burns was .joined
by Mr. Betz; Mr. Milan Nass, 5032 West Park Drive; Mrs. Tomcho, 5050 West Park Drive;
Mr. Joe Laforet, 5427 Berkshire Drive; Mr. Charles Conerly, 499'5 West Park Drive.
Mrs. Petrigac stated that she has had phone calls from residents in the area of the
Park stating that people are coming into the Park and carrying off sections of the
buildings; a white van has been there repeatedly. How is the area being policed?
Can anyone go in and haul out what they want? Mayor replied some people had been
given permission to go in and. salvage what they wanted. Will try and find out and
get the information to Mrs. Petrigac. Does not know if the owners of the white van
have permission to scavenge. Mr. Petre promised to talk to Mr. Corrigan tomorrow
and let Mrs. Petrigac know who has permission. Mr. Rademaker commented that the
Administration has a credibility problem; none of the Mayor's comments will mollify
the representatives in the audience; they will only be content if action is taken and
he would appreciate ft if the Administration would do so.
Mrs. Marlene Orzechowski, Vice Chairman Landmarks Commission, 5043 Evergreen Drive,
commented on the Mayor's statement earlier this evening that he had just received
a resume this week to fill a vacancy on the Landmarks Commission.
