<br />~,., Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation Committee re-
<br />ported: 1) Recreation Commission met on the 10th of September. Don Egert has
<br />moved to California; he was the gymnastics instructor. Jan Zurinda, with the help
<br />of Skip Egert, has taken his place. Ice rink was opened last Saturday; both the hockey
<br />and figure skating clubs have been given a little more ice time. Water tower is
<br />being completed. Afire at the rest rooms at Barton/Bradley Road did about $9,000
<br />damage. Potential hazards at the Deerfield swimming pool were discussed; Mr. Petre
<br />will report back with more information with respect to resolving this problem.
<br />Hockey tournament will be held September 27, 28, and 29, sponsored by TRW, with
<br />fifty-four teams competing. Would like the Safety Committee of Council to discuss
<br />the possibility of requesting legislation to prohibit parking on East Park Drive,
<br />on the east side, from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M.
<br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee reported:
<br />1) Moved Council have no objection to the issuance of an F2 liquor permit for the
<br />North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce, North Olmsted Party Center, 29271 Lorain Road,
<br />North Olmsted, Ohio, for a function to be held on October 9, 1985, second by
<br />Mr. Bierman, unanimously approved.
<br />Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee as well as
<br />Transportation Committee reported: 1) Requested that the Chairwoman of the Land-
<br />marks Commission be allowed to present a report to council with respect to the
<br />grant that they had applied for.
<br />Mrs. Betty Lord, Chairwoman of the Landmarks Commission gave an oral report on
<br />the $3,300 grant they applied for and also presented council with a written copy
<br />of said report. Those people working toward the grant were Robert Parry, Vice-
<br />Chairman Landmarks Commission; Yvonne Petrigac, Council Representative; Julie Brown,
<br />Planning Commission; Sharon Fleming; Robert Hunter; Michael Patton; Gloria Sell and
<br />Lois VanAuken. Will make copies of the report for Engineering and Building Depart-
<br />ments as well as Architectural Review Board and Planning Commission. Gave a special
<br />thank you to Don Copeland, Director of the Department of Human Resources, for his
<br />support and time. At this time, Council asked all of the people mentioned to
<br />please stand and be recognized. President Pro Tem Wilamosky thanked the Commission
<br />for the excellent job they did on this project.
<br />Mr. Tallon, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: 1) Special
<br />BZD Committee meeting was held on Thursday, September 11th, at 8 P.M., to discuss
<br />the interpretation of the Zoning Codes in relation to coaanercial property abutting
<br />residential property - in particular, the Halleen new truck dealership on the south
<br />side of Lorain Road and the existing Halleen property on the north side of Lorain
<br />Road. Besides the committee, in attendance were Councilwoman Petrigac, Law Director
<br />Gareau, Assistant Prosecutor Dan Ryan, Building.Commissioner Gundy and the interested
<br />residents of the area. A lengthy discussion covering the interpretation of the codes
<br />and how they apply to the two properties was held. Residents agreed to forward a
<br />letter to Law Director for some written interpretations as well as to Building
<br />Commissioner for some on-site inspection. Meeting adjourned at approximately 10 P.M.
<br />Letters and Communications:
<br />Clerk of Council read a letter from Mr. Mark L. Frank, Clareshire Court Condominium
<br />Association, expressing appreciation for the excellent cooperation on the part of
<br />the Service Department in dealing with a sewer backup problem.
<br />Audience participation:
<br />Mrs. Sally Reasor, 4422 Silverdale Road, representing many residents from the
<br />Silverdale/Selhurst area who were in the audience, reported on the rampant vandalism
<br />in this area and asked Council's recommendations for handling this serious problem.
<br />Mrs. Reasor and all the area residents adjourned to the large caucus room to meet
<br />with Safety Director Petre and present all the information they had to give.
