Mr. Tallon moved
Council approve the curb cut as stated above, second by Mr. Bierman, unanimously
approved.
3) Committee briefly discussed the proposed development of the southerly portion
of Deerfield development by the 7515 Corporation; will be forwarding a letter
to them; no action taken at this time.
4) Mr. Roger Clingman addressed BZD Committee regarding the possibility of a
future subdivision; he was advised to address Council, with the Mayor and Law
Director in attendance, at the next council meeting.
Audience participation:
Mr. Roger Clingman, 23274 Mastick Road, gave a report, request to North Olmsted
City Council for a workable plan to develop the area adjacent to relocated Elm
Road" and presented a copy of same to Council. Clerk of Council will forward a
copy of the report to all members of council, Mayor Swietyniowski and Law Director
Gareau; copy of same is also attached and made part of these minutes.
Mr. Dean McKay, 5197 Columbia Road, addressed the issue of rehabilitation of
Community Cabin and questioned the need for hiring an architect to draw up
plans when it is a matter of rewiring, fixing plumbing, repairs in general,
cleaning and painting, etc. Mayor responded that the city cannot go in there,
randomly spend money on different items that people think need to be done without
a set of plans; unfortunately, there are no standard plans for the Community
Cabin and he feels that plans are necessary.
Councilman Wilamosky is now present at the council table.
Mrs. Madeline Brookshire, 5104 Hampton Drive, requested that the Mayor be sure
to hire an architect who has some background in historical buildings. Mayor
stated he would follow the charter in hiring an architect. Mrs. Brookshire
asked if the $3,000 for this purpose would be taken from the General Fund; Mayor
responded, "probably". Mr. Wilamosky commented that when the use of General
Funds was discussed, the Mayor had not made any provision for the hiring of an
architect; in fact, nowhere in the entire appropriation ordinance was such a
project discussed. Has the Mayor included this in some portion of the appropri-
ation that Mr. Wilamosky is not aware of? Mayor stated that he had not; would
like to discuss this at the next Finance Committee meeting; he has a couple of
alternatives in mind.
Mr. Robert Ireland, 26605 Sweetbrier Drive, discussed the big ditch on his
property which continually fills with debris, over-flows regularly and is
washing away the sides of the bank. Asked Council for help in getting some
relief .
Mr. Greg Biefuss, 26629 Sweetbrier Drive, also addressed the ditch problem.
Has lost afoot of land between his fence and the ditch already and is afraid
the fence will go next. Has lost land at rear of his property as well. Ditch is
now 10 feet deep, has concrete slabs in the bottom, fills with debris, is a
very dangerous. threat if someone should fall in.
In response to Mr. Ireland and Mr. Beifuss, Councilwoman Petrigac noted that
the builder did not take the drainage ditch to the back of this section as he
had done throughout the rest of the subdivision. The neighbors in the area con-
stantly have to clean out the debris and there is still flooding despite their
efforts. This problem must be addressed and solved. President Boehmer requested
City Engineer Schaller to investigate and report back to Council with his
recommendations for correcting the situation.
