Council Minutes of 3/19/85 -3-
a water tower, at a cost of $36,000, which would save $28,OOA every year. The
Barton/Bradley shelter must be replaced or repaired or torn down this year. There
is the on-going problem of the roof over the swimming pool particularly. Mrs.
Petrigac will schedule another meeting for Tuesday, March 26th, to suggest some of
the capital improvements with Mr. Couts and Mr. Petre. Some suggestions for 1985
are drainage at $2,000; reconditioning the Barton/Bradley diamonds at $2,350; re-
conditioning Clague Diamond No. 1 at $4,900; concession area carpeting at $5,000;
resurfacing Clague tennis courts at $2,050; a total of $16,300. Suggested equipment
purchases are a safety gate in the pool area at $800; skate rental at $1,500; a
weed eater at $500; an industrial vacuum at $1,275.; fluorescent lighting at $400;
a portable generator at $2,200 and miscellaneous line item at $325; a total of $7,000.
These will all be discussed at the meeting on the 26th of March.
Mrs. Saringer requested that Chairman T,dilamosky, at the next Finance Committee
Meeting, take under consideration that $4,800 of Revenue Sharing Funds were used
for the shelter at Bradley Road.
Mr. Wilamosky asked if the price of $36,000 included any ancillary cost involved
for the water tower. Mrs. Petrigac said it was her understanding that the $36,000
was for the complete package; will check on this to be sure.
Mr. Tallon, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: I) BZD
Meeting was held the 12th of March for the purpose of considering the Earl Scheib
proposal for exterior alterations. Mr. Tallon moved Council approve the exterior
alteration proposal submitted by Earl Scheib, as approved by the Planning Commission
and ARB and with the added condition that the automotive, overhead garage door on
the front of the building be excluded from the plan, second by Mr. O'Grady, unani-
mously approved.
Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance Committee as well as Streets and Drainage Committee
reported: 1) Finance Committee met on March 7th and held preliminary discussions
with respect to the Mayor's recommendations as listed in the appropriation ordinance,
No. 85-20, for fiscal year 1985. Committee discussed with the Mayor a number of
line items that did not seem to reflect sufficient revenues; Mayor will review and
meet with committee again. Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 21st, at 8 P.M.
2) Streets and Drainage Committee met last week and discussed resurfacing of asphalt
streets this year. Will forward a list of streets to Finance Committee to be in-
corporated in the street resurfacing program. Discussed the extensive project for
some of the major thoroughfares, i.e. Barton, Gessner and Porter. Will continue to
discuss and will have a recommendation for Council in the next couple of weeks.
Letters and Communications:
Clerk of Council reported: 1) Received a letter from State Senator Suhadolnik in
response to Resolution No. 84-114, recommending that the Ohio Department of Trans-
portation take immediate steps to commence construction of the relocation of Route 252
which falls north of Lorain Road. Senator Suhadolnik advised that since Westlake
has failed to consent to the project, it is indefinitely postponed. Mayor stated
that all consent ordinances have been passed as far as this project is concerned.
2) Clerk also read a letter from Mr. James Logan, Clubside Drive, recommending that
the City of North Olmsted establish a Mayor's Court. President Boehmer placed
Mr. Logan's letter in the Legislation Committee for consideration.
Audience participation:
Dean McKay, 5197 Columbia Road, asked the Members of Council to visit the Community
Cabin; it badly needs repairs and cleaning. Mrs. Petrigac asked if the maintenance
man's duties included keeping the Cabin clean. Mayor Swietyniowski said they did;
he will look into the conditions there.
