An
ordinance authorizing the Building Commissioner to proceed with the demolition or
removal of the three (3) detached structures on Permanent Parcel No. 234-10-3
at 30993 Lorain, in the City of north Olmsted, and declaring an emergency. Referred
to Public Safety, ~iealth and Iaelfare Committee.
Under Old Business:
Mrs. Petrigac pointed out that Lorain Road,: at the west end of the City, had the
water lines cleaned out last year. It was mentioned at the last. Planning Commission
Meeting that the Cityof Cleveland was going to clean out the lines on Lorain Road,
going west. Is this a duplication? Mayor replied that the scheduled cleaning had
nothing t® do with the west end; the cleaning will be done at the east end, running
through Fairview Park and a portion in North Olmsted from Claque Road east to the
corporation line. Also, a second step to increase water pressure at the west end,
by the installation of ~ "loop" has not yet been done. Will need another year to
see the results of the cleaning, o-f~~the increase in pressure, and what the total
system is like before recommending that Council address the "loop" installation.
Mr. Tallon asked the Mayor why the appropriation ordinance is approximately three
weeks late in getting to Council. Mayor replied that he did not receive the esti-
mated appropriations from the County until a week prior to submission to Council.
Even then, there was a $X0,000 error in the County's figures.
Mr. Bierman asked why a new office had to be built in the Administration wing, using
a reception area, when this is still such a new building; is this for a new employee?
Mayor replied that the present Service Director would take over this new office;
Service Director's old office wilt be utilized as an area for engineering to lay out
their plans.
Mrs. Petrigac asked if a decision had been made with regard to the railings for the
front of City Hall. Mayor replied that the railings were currently being fabricated
and would be installed within a month or so.
President Boehmer asked what had been done about the installation of a flag pole in
the front of the new City Hall Complex; this was discussed some time ago. Mayor re-
plied that he has some prices and will discuss with the Finance Committee.
Mrs. Saringer discussed-the poor condition of City streets and suggested that the
Streets and Drainage Committee or the Administration check into a program whereby
the residents are assessed to have their street brought up to standard. Mr. Wilamosky
told Mrs. Saringer to jot her suggestions on a legislative request form and send to
the Law nirector. Mrs. Saringer replied that she did not have any suggestions; she
is just asking the Streets and Drainage Committee Chairman or the Administration to find
out what other cities do as far as this type of a program for street improvement.
