Council Minutes of 2/19/85
-3-
2) Mr. O'Grady moved Council have no objection to the transfer of a DS liquor permit
from George Biddulph, 5869-73 Canterbury Road, 1st floor basement, North Olmsted,
Ohio, to Biddulph, Incorporated, dba Springvale Ballroom and Country Club, 5869-73
Canterbury Road, 1st floor and basement, North Olmsted, Ohio, second by Mr. Biermar_,
unanimously approved.
Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee as well as
Transportation Committee reported: 1) Mayor Swietyniowski requested the Trans-
portation Committee Meeting be called off; Mrs. Petrigac rescheduled the meeting
for Tuesday, February 26th, at 7:00 P.M. Requested the Mayor to be in attendance
with all the information previously requested.
2) Recreation Commission net on Tuesday, February 12th. Mrs. nary Smith, requested
that the City continue to provide space for the arts by .leasing the pottery and arts
room and allowing Horizons to sub-lease and provide art programs for the community,
Three rooms would be leased for 53,000 per year with matching funds coming from the
State of Ohio. Commission discussed the revenue from the Rec Complex which is de-
posited in its own account in Society National Rank to draw interest. Also, the
Community Cabin will be coming under the direction of the Recreation Department;
programs could be initiated to use the facility when it is not rented out to residents;
public: will still have priority. The budget meeting will be held on Monday, the 25th,
in conjunction with the Recreation Committee; requested Mr. ?~?ilamosky and Mr. Boyle
to be in attendance; meeting is ..scheduled for 8 P.M. at the Rec Complex. Tam. Fattier
Baas nominated to the Ohio Parks and Recreation Board. Roth Brothers will reschedule
their. meeting to present their energy study.
Mrs. Petrigac noted that her Recreation comments;were redundant since Mrs. Saringer
had already reported out. However, Mrs. Petrigac had indicated to 24rs. Saringer that
she would give the report to Council since Mrs. Saringer was only in attendance at
the Recreation Commission Meeting for approximately the last five minutes of the
meeting. Mrs. Petrigac noted also that this problem with double-reporting has existed
since last year; there never was a joint-chairmanship established. Mrs. Petrigac
asked that just one person be designated by Council as the Recreation Committee
Chairman and that only one person give the report .from the Recreation Commission
Meetings; this has been causing a problem for the Recreation Commission too. President
Boehmer indicated that Council would take this matter under advisement at the Council
as a [thole Committee Meeting immediately following the regular Council Meeting this
evening.
Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance Committee as well as Streets and Drainage Committee
reported: 1) Commented on the current status of Kenny Lane, formerly Reed Road.
Streets and Drainage Committee members received a report from City Engineer Schaller
as of February 12th which indicated that 60 feet of land along Kenny Lane was pur-
chased in 1960 by the Cleveland Diocese from Libby Lee Incorporated and it was then
purchased. by the City of North Olmsted on November 1, 1961. The land was authorized
to be acquired through Resolution No. 61-175. Records do not show that the street was
dedicated but it was purchased with the understanding that it was for roadway purposes.
Mr. Bierman had raised the question of changing the name of a street that had never
been officially dedicated in the first place. Feels this should be forwarded to the
Law Department for review to determine if, based on the terms of Ordinance No. 61-175
and the deed restrictions, whether or not the City should now officially move to
dedicate this street or, in essence, when the City purchased it was it accepted for
roadway purposes based on the terms of the purchase agreement. Would like the Law
Department to revie~a the matter with City Engineer Schaller.
Audience participation:
Mrs. Nancy Mantle, 26989 Whitethorn, presented a petition containing 95 signatures
of residents objecting to the car wash proposed at [dhitethorn and Andrus Avenue.
,~;.-~.
~.
