• -4-
Council Minutes of 1/2/85
LEGISLATION (cont'd):
Ordinance No. 84-124 introduced by Mr. O'Grady was given its second reading. An
ordinance creating a new and revised Chapter 702 of the Codified Ordinances of the
City of North Olmsted, entitled, "Traveling Public Shows or Carnivals."
Ordinance No. 84-125 introduced by Mr. Tallon was given its second reading. An
ordinance amending Sections 1000.02 and 1000.07 of Chapter 1000 of the Codified
Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted, entitled, "Subdivision of Land."
Ordinance No. 84-126 introduced by Mayor Swietyniowski was given its second reading.
An ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Western
Cuyahoga Lodge No. 25 of the Fraternal Order of Police, North Olmsted Division, which
agreement is the collective bargaining agreement between the City and the Police De-
partment, and declaring an emergency.
Resolution No. 85-1 introduced by Mr. Bierman on behalf of the Mayor and the entire
Council was given its first reading. A resolution commending the public service of
Chief Marion R. Taylor.
Resolution No. 85-2 introduced by Mrs. Petrigac was given its first reading. A
resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for
various vehicles and equipment for the Police and Fire Departments.
Ordinance No. 85-3 introduced by Mr. Wilamosky was given its first reading. An
ordinance establishing working conditions and benefits to be paid to the employees
of the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line, and declaring an emergency.
Under Old Business:
Mr. Wilamosky asked if Finance Director Boyle had had an opportunity to prepare the
amortization schedule with respect to the Lorain Road fund as discussed at the last
council meeting. Mr. Boyle stated it had been done on Monday and should be in
Mr. Wilamosky's mail box.
Mrs. Saringer stated that it was her understanding, that Budget and Management Director
Logan had applied or was being paid unemployment compensation. When an emp?_oyee is
fired, he is not entitled to unemployment compensation. Mayor Swietyniowski said he
would check on it and get back to Mrs. Saringer. Law Director Gareau advised that
this is not necessarily the standard; "just cause" and other things go into a de-
cesion on eligibility for unemployment compensation.
Under New Business:
Mr. Bierman asked if Channel 4 could carry the notification regarding the newspaper
and aluminum collection for the whole month PRIOR to the weekend it is scheduled
instead of one or two days before. As of now, it runs late for a whole month; should
be changed on the Monday, following the weekend pickup, so people could plan ahead
for the next collection weekend the following month. Mayor Swietyniowski said he
would take care of it for Mr. Bierman.
Mrs. Petrigac scheduled a Transportation Committee Meeting for January 10th, Thursday,
at 7:30 P.M., to meet jointly with the Ad Hoc Long Range Planning Gommittee, to dis-
cuss Columbia Road. Asked Mayor Swietyniowski to be in attendance.
Mr. Wilamosky asked if there was an interpretation with respect to the sign at the
park which stated, over the holiday weekend, "slap happy". Mr. Bierman reported
that the sign had been broken into and the vandals had substituted "slap happy" for
the Happy New Year message.
