Since that information was just received from the Safety
Department, committee will take no action on this tonight.
Letters and communications:
President Saringer announced receipt of Congressman Feighan's letter with
respect to legislation recently passed by council with regard to supporting
efforts to protect those born in the Social Security "notch" years; he
shares the city's concern and agrees that it is absolutely necessary and
should demand. the immediate attention of Congress.
Audience participation:
Tom Fattler, Recreation and Parks Director, explained that some of the decline
in revenue at the Rec Complex was due to closing of the facility to recoup
lost revenue - to recoup expenditures and offset the loss of revenue by an
even greater portion, specifically the rink area. It was closed in June and
the Complex saved many thousands of dollars by this closing. This money
then went into other areas of expenditures, with the support of council, to
correct many of the other problems at the facility. There was an extensive
painting program, repairs in the rink and pool areas, as well as in the parks.
The Recreation Department is moving in a positive direction; will continue to
look at these areas and although revenue may not increase, it may be due to
some corrective procedures that were made to .make the overall operation
efficient .
Betsy Jack, Administrator of the Senior Center, reported that Ruth Love, North
Olmsted resident, was named Ohio Ms Senior, 1987 and will represent Ohio in
competition for the US Ms Senior title.
Lois DeBrodt, 23141 Stoneybrook Drive, President of North .Olmsted Community
Council, stated that the wrong telephone number was listed on the invitations
for the President's Dinner on November 25th.
