<br />President Woerpel requested Director Boyle to forward any information with
<br />respect to Senate Bill 2166 to him; he will be in Washington in a couple of
<br />weeks and may be able to make some congressional contacts at that time.
<br />President Woerpel also. commented that last night members of the Police and Fire
<br />Departments, Mayor, Service Hirector, Councilman McKay aad he met with repre-
<br />sentatives from the Board of County Cissoners to disease the 9ll ea~rgency
<br />response system being proposed for Cuyahoga County. The neetia~g otas very in-
<br />formational and enlightening. The final plans need to be adcspt+ed by-the county
<br />no later than March 31st of this year. At that time, North 0lmeed will receive
<br />the final, complete plan, have an opportunity to review it aad within ~~ days
<br />must either accept or reject it. I~ accepted throughout the county, the 911
<br />system will be operational sometime in the fourth quarter of 1487. President
<br />Woerpel has shared some information with Chairman O'Grady and requested h to
<br />take the information into the Safety Committee. Hopefully, council will have a
<br />resolution to act upon within the next couple of weeks.
<br />Mr. McKay, Chairman Environmental Control Committee as well as Streets and Drainage
<br />Committee reported: 1) Streets and Drainage Committee met on Thursday, March 13th,
<br />with Service Director, City Engineer, Commissioner Gorsuch, and Cncilmen O'Grady,
<br />Lackey and McKay in attendance. Committee discussed the roadway evaluation summary
<br />of city streets. with the exception of those streets that are the responsibility of
<br />the county. Five city streets fall under the major reconstruction program and
<br />they are as follows: North Porter Road, 6,500 linear feet, coat of $269:,758;
<br />Maple Ridge Road, 2,700 linear feet, North Olmsted's share of cost, $52,650;
<br />Country Club Boulevard, 1,300 linear feet, cost of $5fl,T00; North M11 Road,
<br />1,300 linear feet, cost of $50,700; Elm Road, 2,480 linear feet, cost of $107,500
<br />and this includes drainage and berm improvements. Total cost of the five streets
<br />is $715,600. Overlay projects of asphalt are needed for Root Road, ;24,300;
<br />North Park Drive, $20,735; Butternut Ridge Road, $59,920; Gess~er Road (Walter to
<br />Columbia), $14,715; Walter Road and Maple Ridge to Lorain. Road, $37,640; West
<br />231st Street, $21,450; Alexander Road, $17,:875; Grace Avenue (Br~kpark to Elm),
<br />$8,825; Coe Avenue, complete, $17,825; Maple Ridge Road, (Walter 'to Clague),
<br />$22,855, for a total of $246,150. Roads recently repaired, in good shape, but
<br />still needing preventative maintenance include Lorain Road (Brookpark to the west
<br />corporation line), Great Northern Boulevard ,(Lorain to Brookpark) and Canterbury Road.
<br />2) Committee also discussed an erosion problem at 23380 Sharon Drive which involves
<br />an open ditch. Because of a Lack of information will have to discuss this at a
<br />future date.
<br />Mrs. Saringer asked that the Streets and Drainage Committee or the Service De-
<br />partment look at Stoneybrook; holes are tremendous; something needs to ba done
<br />before somebody is injured. Clifford Drive is also very bad. Mr. Wilamosky
<br />stated that the roads mentioned are some of the major arterial roadways; comYnittee
<br />will continue to look at residential streets that need addressing.. Also, noted
<br />that the Mayor had not provided for any major capital street improvements in her
<br />appropriation recommendations.
<br />Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance Committee reported: I) Committee has been re-
<br />viewing the appropriation ordinance; will be meeting again on March 19th and
<br />hopes to share some additional dialogue with the administration.
<br />~ Mr. Lackey, Chairman Intro-Govern:ntal Relations and Legislation Coamtittee re-
<br />ported: 1) Committee interviewed Mr. Milton Gates and recommends his appointment.
<br />Mr. Lackey moved council approve the appointment of Mr. Milton Gates, 5813 McKenzie
<br />Road, to the Board of Building Code of Appeals, second by Mrs. Saringer, unani-
<br />mously approved.
<br />2) Received the annual report for 1985 from Landmarks Commission; will forward a
<br />copy to anyone who wishes to have it.
