<br />b. McDonald's Restaurant, 27322 Lorain Road, proposal to construct
<br />a small addition, exterior renovations and revisions to site plans, including
<br />parking, landscaping and signage approved by Planning Commission on June 23rd.
<br />BZD Committee approved the proposal as per Planning Commission and with the addition
<br />of the removal of one parking space on the east side of -the center island and. in-
<br />stallation of one additional handicapped space in its place, plus the removal of
<br />one handicapped space from the west side of the center island and installation of
<br />one regular space on the west side. Mr. Tallon moved council approve the McDonald's
<br />proposal as stipulated above, second by Mr. Bohlmann, unanimously approved.
<br />c. Cherandon Plaza, minor request to change the type of material on
<br />the building to an all white, split block, which is an approved material by the
<br />Planning Commission on June 23, 1987; BZD has no objection. Mr. Tallon moved to
<br />approve'th.e change of material for Cherandon Plaza III as stipulated above, second
<br />by Mr. Bohlmann, unanimously approved.
<br />2) The next order of business was the Engineering Department request for sub-
<br />divisions; there was only one major subdivision, Bradley Oaks Subdivision. Lengthy
<br />discussion ensued with concerned residents and the developer, Mr. Needles. BZD
<br />Chairman made everyone aware of the contents of the letter received from the Cuyahoga
<br />County Board of Health with respect to the mosquito problem in the area. Basically,
<br />the letter recognized the potential health hazard as found in any wooded area but
<br />stated that if done properly, the subdivision could actually help the situation by
<br />removal of trees and drainage of the property. Committee moved to accept the sub-
<br />division as approved by Planning Commission; vote w$s one affirmative and one nega-
<br />tive. Resolution No. 87-71, on first reading tonight,. is a resolution accepting for
<br />recording purposes only the Bradley Oak Estates' Subdivision Plat in the City of
<br />North Olmsted.
<br />Letters and Communications:
<br />President Saringer announced receipt of a letter from Speaker of the Ohio House
<br />of Representatives, Vern Riffe, acknowledging receipt of our resolution objecting
<br />to the proposed CEI rate. increase. Also, he appreciated receiving a copy of our
<br />resolution providing for a contribution to the Cuyahoga County Mayors-and Managers
<br />Association to fight the rate increase.
<br />Audience participation:
<br />Patrick Collins, Ohio Lottery Commission attorney, 615 West Superior Avenue,
<br />Cleveland, Ohio, 44113, voiced his objections to the Mayor's proposed tax on the
<br />Ohio Lottery.
<br />Angelo Karouzos, Party Shoppe Beverage, 27600 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, Ohio,
<br />voiced his objections to .the Mayor's proposed tax on the Ohio Lottery and the
<br />negative impact it would have on his income.
<br />Tony Minotti, Minotti's Wine Shop, North Olmsted, Ohio, added his objections to
<br />the Mayor's proposed tax on the Ohio Lottery.
<br />Bob Saringer, 23336 Stoneybrook Drive, discussed Ordinance No. 87-70, the organi-
<br />zational chart for the non-uniform personnel for the North Olmsted Police Department,
<br />as well as Ordinance No. 87-53 covering the Police Chief, Fire Chief and Assistant
<br />Fire Chief's salaries. Feels the salaries are excessive as well as the practise of
<br />adding percentages for longevity.
<br />Betsy Jack, Division on Aging, 28114 Lorain Road, called council's attention to the
<br />flower plantings at the Cabin and Senior Center done by Fred Hatton and Ruth Love.
<br />Invited everyone to the flag raising ceremony at 12:30 P.M. on July 9th and a
<br />presentation to Ida Bierman a one hundred year ,resident of North Olmsted.
