Mr. Wilamosky moved for
adoption, second by Mr. Tallon, unanimously approved. Ordinance No. 87-1 adopted.
Miscellaneous business:
Mr. McKay discussed the use of Fire Department personnel and equipment on
Friday, February 19th, to make repairs to the Christmas tree lights in front
of City Hall; couldn't the Service Department have handled this? If not, why
not just pull the switch and turn the lights out; feels the safety of the
community was jeopardized. Mayor Petrigac responded that the Service Department
had tried, on three different occasions, to fix the lights and had failed. She
had to make a decision to either pull the tree completely or ask the Fire De-
partment to check the lines; she called on the Fire Chief for help because she
preferred to keep the tree lit. The Fire Department did respond; at no time did
this jeopardize the safety of the residents. The entire episode was used as a
training session which was something that was really needed.
Mr. Tallon asked if the city had anyone in the Building Department qualified to
' make electrical repairs; did they not have the equipment or trained personnel,
or both? Mayor stated that this was not what she said; she said that she made
a determination to call the Fire Department personnel in after the Service De-
partment personnel had looked at the tree on three separate occasions and had
not solved the problem.
