Smith, Director Ohio Department of'Transportation 25 South Front Street Columbus, Ohio 43215 RE: Brookpark Road, North Olmsted, Ohio Ohio Route 17 ~ Dear Mr. Smith: I am the President of Park West Homeowners' Association in North Olmsted. I represent 213 homeowners in our development of 150 homes. Recently, Biskind Development Company has proposed building a shopping strip which would abut our residences. This- proposed strip would also abut Brookpark Road which is presently a limited access highway. The property upon which•Mr. Biskind proposes to build a shopping strip is presently zoned residential and multi-family use. When Mr. Biskind presented his proposal for the shopping center and to rezone the property to the North Olmsted Planning Commission, it was turned down by a 4-2 vote. The majority of the Planning Commission opposed the proposal because there was already too mct+ch commercial development in our city. Also, the majority opposed allowing any cuts to be made onto Brookpark Road to allow access to this strip. As you may or may not know, the city already has horrendous traffic problems in the area of Mr. Biskinii's present shopping center, Great Northern. Because of the Lorain Road traffic problems, the only other alternate route to go east in our city is Brookpark Road. If Biskind is allowed to get the limited access designation of Brookpark Road (State Route 17) lifted, we will also have major traffic problems on this street. :,~ ~H ... .:. ,,. ,:~; . ;
