<br />President Saringer reported that the Planning Review Committee met on October
<br />19th for the second time and welcomed the Chairman of the Zoning Board of
<br />Appeals, Mr. Chester Remmel, as a new member of this committee. General dis-
<br />cussion ensued with respect to the two memos from City Planner Hill which
<br />covered approximately eight chapters of the Zoning Code. Next meeting was
<br />scheduled for Wednesday, November 16th, at 7:30 P.M., to discuss the balance
<br />of Memo No. 2. In preparation for this meeting, all written comments should
<br />be received by Chairman Gorris no later than October 31st.
<br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee reported:
<br />1) Moved council have no objection to the transfer of a D2, D2X, D6 liquor
<br />license to Ruggers, Incorporated, dba Rugger's Restaurant and Deli, 5245 Great
<br />Northern Mall, from Great Northern Wines, Incorporated, dba Fine Wines of
<br />Great Northern, 5245 Great Northern Mall, second by Mr. Bohlmann, unanimously
<br />approved.
<br />Mr. Bohlmann, Chairman Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation Committee
<br />as well as Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee reported:
<br />1) Legislative Committee met on October 24th to interview Mr. Jack Konold for
<br />an appointment to the Board of Building Code of Appeals; committee has no
<br />objection. Mr. Bohlmann moved council approve the appointment of Mr. Jack
<br />Konold to fill the unexpired term, November 1, 1988 through December 31, 1990,
<br />Board of Building Code of Appeals, second by Mr. Wilamosky unanimously approved.
<br />Mr. Tallon, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported:
<br />1) BZD Committee Meeting was held on Thursday, October 27th, 1988; the committee
<br />and City Engineer were. in attendance. City Engineer opened the meeting with
<br />requests for new subdivisions.
<br />a. 7515 .Company's Subdivision No. 2, request for resubdivision.
<br />Since this meets all requirements for Class C lot, which is what the area calls
<br />for, committee had no objection to the new subdivision and proper legislation
<br />was requested and is on first reading this evening - Resolution No. 88-124.
<br />b. St. Brendan's Church - request was withdrawn.
<br />2) Committee considered the following Building Department requests:
<br />a. Chi Chi's Mexican Restaurant, 26410 Great Northern Shopping
<br />Center Plaza, proposal for minor revision to exterior of restaurant, i.e.
<br />addition of a 12-inch green stripe and two 3-inch red .stripes as well as to
<br />cover the exposed, open trellis. Revisions approved by ARB on September 31st
<br />and by Planning Commission on October 11th; BZD Couunittee has no objection.
<br />Mr. Tallon moved council approve the above proposal by Chi Chi's Mexican
<br />Restaurant and described above, second by Mr. Bohlmann. Roll call on motion:
<br />Affirmative vote: Boehmer, Bohlmann, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. Negative vote:
<br />McKay. 5 Aye - 1 Nay - Motion carried.
<br />b. McDonald Restaurant, 27322 Lorain Road, proposal to construct
<br />new restaurant; existing building will be demolished. Fire and Police Departments
<br />have no objections to the proposal. ARB suggested that the planters in the tree
<br />lawns be omitted, however, Planning Commission asked if any damaged plants would
<br />be replaced on a yearly basis and McDonald's agreed to this, stating they planned
<br />on doing this anyway. Planning Commission then recommended that the planters be
<br />kept in the proposal and BZD Committee concurred with this recommendation. Mr.
<br />Tallon moved council approve the above proposal by McDonald's Restaurant, as
<br />per Planning Commission and BZD recommendations, second by Mr. Bohlmann, unani-
<br />mously approved.
