<br />a. St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3085 Clague Road; proposed
<br />parking lot improvements and proposal to construct storage facility and trash
<br />enclosure. This is the first phase of an overall improvement plan and consists
<br />of paving a small slag area currently being used for parking; connecting drain
<br />the to the present open retention system and installing additional landscaping.
<br />Future plans include two additional buildings; extra parking spaces and .the
<br />current open retention, which actually has little retention, would become under-
<br />ground retention. Proposal approved by Planning Commission on September 12, 1989,
<br />and BZD Committee concurs. Mr. Tallon moved council approve the above described
<br />proposal, second by Mr. Bohlmann, unanimously approved.
<br />b. Great Northern Shopping Center, parking plan, area located to
<br />rear of Kids R Us; proposal to construct Phase II of parking lot renovations.
<br />Mr. Pappendreas presented a color rendering of the area which showed the asphalt
<br />area, concrete curbs, nineteen additional parking spaces and landscaping. When
<br />fully occupied, there will be a screen wall included to screen dumpsters, meters,
<br />etc., which are now visible in the parking lot. BZD concurred with Planning
<br />Commission that this is a much needed addition at this end of the strip shopping
<br />center. Mr. Tallon moved council approve the above described proposal, second
<br />by Mr. O'Grady, unanimously approved.
<br />c. Paradise Honda Automobile Agency, 25892 Lorain Road; revision
<br />to originally approved plans. Planning Commission approved on April 25, 1989.
<br />Manufacturer required several changes to originally approved plans: building will
<br />be two feet wider and thirty-five feet longer; second floor, over the front
<br />portion of the building, has been eliminated; building has been moved eight feet
<br />forward for better visibility. Originally, two properties were to be assembled
<br />and both agencies were to be on one lot. Plans now show a property line and a
<br />cross easement for parking between the two facilities is needed. Architect agreed
<br />that each parcel must have its own underground retention and Engineering Department
<br />will forward a final copy of the accepted retention. Committee concurs with
<br />Planning Commission and approved the revision. Mr. Tallon moved council approve
<br />the above described proposal, second by Mr. Bohlmann, unanimously approved.
<br />d. Clague Road United Church of Christ, 3650 .Clague Road;
<br />proposal to install addition to parking area. Parking area is to be expanded by
<br />6,543 square feet. Four separate parcels are involved and Consulting Engineer Cesen
<br />will check to make sure the parcels will be combined. This will be done before the
<br />proposal is approved by the Engineering Department. Committee. concurs with the
<br />Planning Commission. Mr. Tallon moved council approve the above described proposal,
<br />second by Mr. O'Grady, unanimously approved.
<br />Audience participation:
<br />Rev. Joseph Rinderknecht, Pastor St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3085 Clague Road, and
<br />Barb Stark, Project Coordinator, explained plans for the collection of bottled water,
<br />baby clothing, disposable diapers, shoes, paper products, linen, personal hygiene
<br />articles, non-perishable food, canned goods, cleaning supplies, charcoal, school
<br />supplies, etc. for victims of Hurrican Hugo, starting at 10 A.M. Wednesday, October
<br />4th. Requested a proclamation from the city for Roadway Trucking Company who is
<br />providing the trucks and drivers to transport all the collected material.
<br />LEGISLATION:
<br />Ordinance No. 89-5 introduced by Mr. Wilamosky was given its third reading. An
<br />ordinance declaring city-owned real estate, located at 5946 Barton Road, bearing
<br />Permanent Parcel Number 234-06-071, as surplus property and directing the Mayor
<br />to hire the services of an appraiser and to advertise for bids for the sale of
<br />said surplus property, as amended. Mr. Wilamosky moved for adoption, second by
<br />Mr. Tallon, unanimously approved. Ordinance No. 89-5 adopted.
