<br />Mayor Boyle announced that Law Director Gareau was not in attendance
<br />because he had been called to Columbus on City business.
<br />Finance Director Burns reported: 1) We received our share of the lOX
<br />property tax rollback, which amounted to $343,828.
<br />2) This year's collection of estate taxes mounted to $292,752, which is
<br />approximately double what we expected.
<br />Mr. Nashar, Chairman of the Streets and Drainage Committee reported:
<br />1) Explained the appropriations and sources of funds for the 1990 street
<br />repair program. Under Ordinance 90-70, $39,000 from the proceeds of the
<br />home sold on Barton Road was added to the street repair program. In
<br />addition, $30,000 was added to the street repair material to share the
<br />cost of resurfacing Canterbury and Lessner Roads, which was postponed to
<br />the summer of 1991 under Ordinance 90-9b. An additional $40,000 was
<br />transferred from insurance to the street repair material. The total
<br />amount appropriated was $209,500. In 1989, $100,000 was appropriated
<br />for Sunset Oval; the scene money was reappropriated in 1990 and was spent
<br />on the partial replacement of Sunset Oval. Also, $15,000 was
<br />appropriated for crack sealing throughout the City. The grand total of
<br />monies expended an streets in 1990 was $309,500, which gave us the
<br />ability to resurface twelve streets and partially replace one.
<br />Approximately thirty miles of streets have been completed.
<br />2) Thanked the employees for the fine job dog in 1990 and wished
<br />everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
<br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman of the Public Safety Health and Welfare Committee
<br />reported: 1) Moved Council have ryo objection to the transfer of the C-1,
<br />C-2, D-6 liquor permit from Sohio Oil Co., DBA On the Way Mini Market,
<br />23425 Lorain Road to Musto Enterprises, Inc., 23425 Lorain Road; second
<br />by Mr. Leonard. Roll call: O'Grady, yes; Leonard, yes; Babas, yes;
<br />McKay, no; Nashar, yes; Saringer, ~; Tallon, yes. Motion passes with 5
<br />yeas and 2 nays.
<br />Mr. McKay, Chairman of the Environmental Control Committee reported:
<br />1) Council Members have been given a copy of a resolution, passed by the
<br />Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, which sets forth a plan to develop
<br />money to establish recycling programs and assist the Health Departn~nt
<br />in enforcing solid waste regulations. We have 60 days to consider
<br />ratification of this resolution; it will be taken into Committee.
<br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development
<br />Committee reported: 1) The Committee met on December 12; in attendance
<br />were members Saringer and Tallon, Building Commissioner Conway, and
<br />Assistant Engineer McDermott.
<br />a. First item on the agenda was Halleen Chevrolet, 27932 Lorain
<br />Road, a proposal to install a six-foot fence. Mr. Bill Giesser
<br />presented the plans, which call for a green vinyl coating on the fence.
<br />ARB approved on November 21; Plarming C~mi.ssion approved on November
<br />27. The BZD Committee requested the Forester, Mr. Wendell, work out an
<br />agreement with Halleen on the planting of trees; this agreement has now
<br />been completed. Moved to approve with the recommendations of ARB,
<br />Planning C~nnission, and the agreement in regard to the addition of
<br />trees; second by Mr. Tallon; passed unanimously.
