Council Minutes of 9/18/90 <br />2) The Faughender case will be argued in the Sixth Circuit on <br />November 6. <br />3) This past week we received a civil rights complaint against the city <br />claiming discrimination against a white male in preference to a white <br />female. <br />4) A hearing was held before the Unemployment Bureau for a claim for <br />unemployment compensatioci by former patrolman Michael Angelo Butera; we <br />expect to hear the appeal on that shortly. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of Building, Zoning, and Development <br />reported: 1) The BZD Cc~nnittee met on September 12 with all members in <br />attendance as well as Mr. Leonard, Building Commissioner Co~rzway, and <br />Assistant Engineer McDermott. The following items were discussed: <br />(a) The Metro Lexus, 28450 Lorain Road, proposal to construct a <br />1,700 sq. foot addition to the Service Department to be located on the <br />side and rear in an area previously planned for expansion. There was no <br />change to the exterior surface; paging speakers on the northwest and <br />north sides of the building have been removed. It was recommended that <br />trees would remain in the future and the Building Dept. would monitor <br />the loudspeakers. Motion to approve the proposal with the stipulation <br />of the Planning Commission and the BZD Committee; second by Mr. O'Grady; <br />unanimously approved. <br />(b) A new Zoning Cocl~te, which is on first reading tonight. This <br />will go to the Planning Commission and a Public Hearing will be held at <br />a later date. <br />(c) The Georgalis rezoning was discussed and is on first reading <br />tonight. Planning Commissicxi has approved this. <br />(d) The Woodpath entrance-way sign was discussed and is on first <br />reading tonight. The Law Dept. has approved the licensing agreement, <br />which is part of the legislation. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairman of Environmental Control Committee reported: 1) <br />Members of Council met with Bruce Bretherington of BFI on August 28 to <br />discuss the position of BFI in relationship to HB 592. BFI presently <br />has more than 11,000 acres for future use; however, only 190 acres has <br />been approved for landfilling; this is expected to provide landfill <br />service for the next fifteen to twenty years. BFI will soon break <br />ground in Russia Township for a solid waste recycling building. <br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman of Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee <br />reported: 1) Moved Council have no objection to the issuance of D-1 <br />permit from Earl F. Yesberger estate, Scott and Brett Yesberger co- <br />executors, DBA North Olmsted Golf Club on Canterbury Road, to the North <br />Olmsted Golf Course, Inc., DBA North Olmsted Golf Course, 5840 <br />Canterbury Road, North Olmsted; second by Mr. Nashar; passed <br />unanimously. <br />2 <br /> <br />
