r <br />Council minutes of 9/18190 <br />Audience Participation (continued): <br />Sam Mazzola, 24615 Maple Ridge, is also having flooding problems on his <br />property. Arty significant rainfall will bring 3 to 4 inches of water <br />into his basement and flood his entire yard; wants to know what is being <br />done about the flooding problem. <br />Mr. Bohlmarm responded that Mr. Mazzola has contacted the city several <br />times about this problem and agreed it is a serious flooding problem. <br />The city has awarded a $1,700,0©0 contract to United Survey for <br />rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer lines and Maple Ridge area is one <br />of the first areas to be repaired. Construction should begin by <br />October; this work will give us the ability to remove the pumps from the <br />east end of town and to balance our storm and sani.taries out. <br />Mike Boland, 23559 Stoneybrook Drive, commented that he has come before <br />City Council 26 of the 27 years of his residence to complain about <br />flooding. He admits the amount of flooding has reduced; however, even a <br />few inches of water causes the same amount of work and inconvenience. <br />Mr. Bohlmaim agreed there were flooding problems in the Sto~ybrook area <br />but admitted that this would not be the first area to be addressed. <br />This area will be on the second phase of the project. <br />Mr. Boland asked what criteria was used to determine the streets in <br />phase one aril two. He feels the problems on Stoneybrook, Marion, <br />Alexander, and Clifford should be addressed before the Deerfield area. <br />Mrs. Saringer mentioned that she has made many requests for help in this <br />area. <br />Mr. McKay stated that the EPA had dictated where the work should begin. <br />Mr. Bohlmarm concurred with Mr. McKay's statement; the city must abide <br />by the findings and orders of the Ohio EPA.. The first phase of the <br />contract must be completed by April 1, 1991; work will begin on <br />Stoneybrook immediately after. <br />Mr. Boland urged more pumps for the Stoneybrook area. Parts of <br />Stoneybrook are collapsing and the sidewalks are depressed; he suggested <br />TV'ing of the sewers start soon. <br />Tom Heim, 24128 Maple Ridge, also has flooding problems even after <br />having $7,000 worth of work done to his property. He is willing to <br />spend whatever it takes to put in a check valve if it will prevent raw <br />sewage from coming into his basement. <br />Mr. Bohlmann again stated that the first. phase of the project has begun <br />and Mr. Heim's property is in that area. <br />5 <br />y,~,, . _ _ .., . .. r ~.<~ <br />
