Council Minutes of 8/21/90 <br />5) The forms to be used in collection of the hotel/motel tax are <br />being finalized. Collection of that tax will begin in September. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to Tim Quirm, Jr. acknowledging <br />his excellence as a sped skater by winning two gold medals and. two <br />bronze medals during the U. S. Olympic Festival in July. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning, and Development <br />Conmi.tteereported: 1) The BZD Committee met to discuss a) The <br />rezoning request of Great Northern Properties to rezone 1.7 acres on <br />the eastern end of an 18 acre parcel on the west side of Columbia <br />between Country Club Blvd. and I-480. Specifically, permanent parcels <br />236-18-7, 236-18-8, 236-18-11, and 236-1$-15. This was discussed in <br />Planning Commission in March ani approved by a 5 to 1 vote on July 20. <br />A Public Hearing will be held on September 18 at 7 p.m. <br />b) The Kaiser Med Center proposal to construct a second dumpster. <br />This was approved by Planning Commission on June 26. <br />c) The North Olmsted Park and Recreation Cc~ission's proposal to <br />construct a picnic shelter at the Barton-Bradley soccer location. <br />2) Asked members of the BZD Committee to please review the minutes of <br />the July 10 Planning Commission meeting for the BZD Committee meeting <br />this Thursday. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairman of the Enviromnental Control Committee reported: <br />1) The West Shore Solid Waste Cannttee met on Wednesday, August 8. <br />Pat Holland, Manager for the county-wide solid waste program, believes <br />cities should develop recycling programs because the county will be <br />developing a program for the capital intents of solid waste disposal. <br />Recycling reduction will be required to be 25~ per person in each city <br />by 1994. <br />Mrs. Bahas, Chairperson of Intro-Governmental Relations and <br />Legislation reported: 1) Alan ~A® has been appointed to the Civil <br />Service Commission. kov[~.A~1 <br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman of Public Safety Health and Welfare Commuttee <br />reported: 1) Moved that Council have no objection to the issuance of <br />an F-2 liquor permit for the St. Clarence clambake, 30106 Lorain Road, <br />North Olmsted, Ohio, to be held on Saturday, September 22; second by <br />Mrs. Saringer. Passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairman of the Streets and. Drainage Committee, reported: <br />1) Heavy rain during the weekends of July 21 ar~d August 4 caused some <br />flooding on the western end of town; however, the Service Department <br />was quick to respond. The City is currently doing an engineering <br />study to identify ~d alleviate flooding problems. <br />2) On August 1, a meeting was held at City Hall to discuss the noise <br />problem at Night Falls Lounge on Lorain Road. Residents were assured <br />that the Police Department would patrol and monitor the noise level. <br />Phil Cerena, the owner, was very cooperative and expressed willingness <br />to correct the problem. <br />4 <br />
