Council Minutes of 8/21/90
~- 3) The commemorative cancellation stamp celebrating the City's 175th
Anniversary will go into service on August 18, 1990 a~ will remain i.ri
service for at least six months.
Letters and Comnninications:
1 We have receive a etter from Governor Celeste thanking Council
for camnuiicating our support of SB-367 which prohibits the issuance
and renewal of liquor permits authorizing the sale of beer, wine, and
mixed beverages at premises where gasoline is sold or offered for
sale.
2) We received a letter from an attorney representing a tax payer,
which was referred to in Mr. Gareau's report.
Audience Partici tion:
The ore Joseven~38 Spruce, expressed his happiness upon
returning to North Olmsted after living in Termessee for a number of
years.
Ed Rybnicek, 4587 Georgette Avenue, reported that a reaident on his
street was sharing the same license plates with two cars. He was
assured that the Police Department would be notified.
David Lend, 23084 Clifford Drive, reported that Clifford Drive has
been deteriorating for a number of years and feels it is in need of
resurfacing.
Mrs. Saringer concurred with Mr. Lend and reported that she and Mr.
O'Grady have requested a resurfacing of Clifford Drive.
Mayor Boyle agreed that many streets, including Clifford, are in need
of repair. The income tax on the November ballot will earmark money
for the City's street program.
Mr. McKay mentioned that in the past, money for street repair had not
been available. He expressed hope that residents would pass the
income tax which will make funds available and allow every street in
North Olmsted to be resurfaced within the next 15 years.
Mayor Boyle reported that 25% of all income tax collected under the
proposed issue (possibly $1,800,000--$1,900,000 in next year's
projection) would go directly to a fund that can only be used for
street programs. This year, the City will repair at least 13 streets,
which is a significant increase over past years.
Tom Stroh, 6279 Stafford Drive, asked if minutes from the last council
meeting were available and if minutes had been prepared since Mrs.
Campbell's illness.
Mr. Burns replied that minutes are being prepared and Mr. Stroh could
contact him for copies. The minutes of the last meeting will be
available in the next week or two.
5
