Council Minutes of 5/1/90 -3- <br />In the absence of Mr. O'Grady, Chairman Safety, Health and Welfare Committee, <br />Mr. Leonard reported receipt of a D5 liquor permit for Lauren Properties, Inc., <br />to be placed in escrow. Will ask for approval under Miscellaneous Business. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairman Streets and Drainage Committee reported: 1)-The city has <br />been using the services of United Survey to inspect storm sewers with a TV <br />camera. They have been working on the southeast side of the city and will <br />continue working in the northeast side also. Their findings so far have un- <br />covered a plugged 12-inch sanitary sewer on Walter Road that had an opening of <br />three inches or Less and could have been the cause of the flooding problems in <br />this area. This section on Walter Road has been repaired by the city at a cost <br />of twenty to twenty-two thousand dollars - approximately a dollar afoot. <br />Audience participation: <br />Edward Bowman, 25191 Butternut Ridge Road, thanked the administration, and <br />Councilman McKay especially, for the erection of "stop" signs at Old Columbia <br />Road and Butternut Ridge Road. <br />LEGISLATION: <br />Ordinance No. 90-41 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its third reading. An <br />ordinance creating a new Chapter 759 of the Business Regulation Code of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted entitled, "Sale of Irradiated <br />Foods", and declaring an emergency. Mr. McKay moved for adoption, second by <br />Mr. Nashar, unanimously approved. Ordinance No. 90-41 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 90-43 introduced by Mrs. Bahas was given its third reading. An <br />ordinance creating a new full-time administrative position to be known as <br />"Clerk of Commissions", and declaring an emergency. Mrs. Bahas moved for <br />adoption, second by Mr. Nashar, unanimously approved. Ordinance No. 90-43 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 90-44 introduced by Mr. Nashar was given its third reading. An <br />ordinance to make and transfer appropriations for current expenses and other <br />expenditures for the City of North Olmsted for the year ending December 31, 1990. <br />Mr. Nashar moved for adoption, second by Mrs. Saringer, unanimously approved. <br />Ordinance No. 90-44 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 90-42 introduced by Mrs. Saringer was given its second reading. <br />An ordinance amending Section 951.01 of the Codified Ordinances, entitled, <br />"Use By Other Governmental Entities" of Chapter 951, entitled "City Jail", <br />and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 90-47 introduced by Mr. Nashar was given its second reading. <br />A resolution requesting the Ohio Department of Transportation to improve Lorain <br />Road, State Route Z0, from the west corporation line to the east corporation <br />line by resurfacing, and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 90-48 introduced by Mayor Boyle was given its second reading. <br />A resolution designating the "bearded iris" as the official city flower, and <br />repealing Resolution No. 79-167. <br />Resolution No. 90-53 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its first reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for <br />two automatic variable speed controllers and associated parts for two lift <br />pumps at the Dover Road Pump Station, and authorizing the Mayor to contract for <br />same, and declaring an emergency. Mr. McKay moved for suspension of rule re- <br />quiring three readings as well as referral to committee, second by Mrs. Saringer, <br />unanimously approved. Mr. McKay moved for adoption, second by Mrs. Saringer, <br />unanimously approved. Resolution No. 90-53 adopted. <br /> <br />
