Council Minutes of 7/2/91 <br />Mr. McKay, Chairperson of the Environmental Control Committee reported: 1) The <br />increased air traffic over the eastern end of North Olmsted is due to the <br />resurfacing of the parallel north/south runway. The repairs wpxe necessary <br />because of the excess use of this runway due to the reconstruction of the main <br />runway. <br />Mr. Tallon, Chairperson of the Finance Committee reported: 1) The Finance <br />Committee met on Thursday, June 27, and the following topics were discussed: <br />a. Resolution 91-91, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for the construction of aeration main improvements at the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is part of the proposal to meet the EPA <br />standards and will be funded through the Wastewater Treatment Plant fund. The <br />Committee concurs with this resolution. <br />b. Resolution 91-92, a resolution adopting the budget for the fiscal year 1992. <br />The Committee has reviewed the budget and recommends passage. <br />c. Ordinance 91-93, an ordinance to transfer and make appropriations for current <br />expenses arr3. other expenditures. These were all inter-fund transfers; the <br />Committee concurred and recommends passage. <br />Mrs. Bahas, Chairperson of the Legislative Committee reported: 1) The Committee <br />met on Thursday, June 27, to discuss Ordinances 91-95 and 91-9b. <br />2) The Committee held a meeting this evening to interview Marsha Hughes, the <br />Mayor's appointment to the Planning Commission. Mrs. Hughes is an active member <br />of the commtmity and participates in nary organizations such as the Institute of <br />Financial Education Policy Committee; the Advisory Boards of Cuyahoga Commnmity <br />College, Lakeland Commnmity College, and Lorain Comnn~nity College; the Cuyahoga <br />Women's Political Caucus; the Leadership Cleveland Committee. Moved that Council <br />confirm the appointment of Marsha Hughes to the Pla~~ng Commission; seco~. by <br />Mr. McKay; passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Boyle administered the oath of office to Marsha Hughes. Ms. Hughes was <br />congratulated and recognized by all present. <br />Mr. Leonard, Chairperson of the Safety Committee, reported: 1) The Safety <br />Committee met on June 27 to discuss a four-way stop at the corner of Decker and <br />Midvale. The Committee recommends approval of this legislation. <br />Audience Participation <br />Al en Keefer, Sherwood Drive, is concerned about the recently announced rate <br />increase by Cablevision. He is frustrated with the service provided by <br />Cablevision and feels the people of North Olmsted are not being .served as they <br />should be. He made tY~e following points concerning Cablevision's service: <br />1. Poor selection. Cablevision offers 53 channels of service, 8 of which repeat <br />the preview guide. There are at least 270 charmels available via satellite that <br />could provide a wide variety of viewing. He would like Cablevision to free up at <br />3 <br />,~~ <br />
