Council Minutes of 1/15/91 <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) With regard to the Dingess case where <br />we sued the insurance company for not defending us in a civil rights <br />matter, we do have a $25,000 deductible on the policy. Consequently, <br />Judge O'Donnell has asked us to consider dismissing the case without <br />prejudice. Should there be a recovery by the plaintiffs in the future, we <br />could raise the issue again. <br />2) A hearing has been set in the Cater case because we could not reach an <br />agreement with respect to the stipulations. <br />3) A brief is being prepared regarding the seasonality of the school <br />guards. <br />4) This past week, we settled a personal injury case where the City was <br />sued with respect to a collision between our snow plow and a van. <br />Finance Director Burns reported: 1) Directors have been asked to provide <br />the Finance Department, by February 1, the figures to be included in this <br />year's permanent appropriations. <br />2) At the next Council meeting, we will be presenting the mote ordinances <br />for the roll-over of all the City notes, with the exception of the sewer <br />rehab notes. The notes will be rolled over for a rsine-rmonth period and <br />are being positioned so we can go to bond. either at the enci of 1991 or the <br />beginning of 1992. <br />3) A meeting will be held tomorrow with New World Systems to schedule the <br />implementation of a new program for the Finance Department computers. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Develapcnent <br />Committee reported: 1) ACouncil-as-a--Whole meeting with the BZD <br />Committee will be held on M~onciay, January 28, at 7:30 p.m. The agenda <br />includes the following: a meeting with residents who will be affected <br />by the Halleen proposal; a discussion of the r~ew Zoning Code. <br />2) Scheduled a BZD Committee meeting for Wednesday, February 13, at 7:30 <br />p.m. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairperson of the Envirorunental Control Committee reported: <br />1) The Environmental Control Committee met on January 7 to discuss the <br />Cuyahoga County Planning Coa~mi.ssion Resolution No. 901211-A. This <br />resolution establishes a district disposal fee and a planning assessment <br />schedule to prepare a solid waste management plan for Cuyahoga Govnty. <br />The cost to North Olmsted will be 75 cents per ton, payable once a year to <br />the County district. The Committee has delayed action on the resolution <br />until a determination is made by the City of Cleveland. <br />Mr. Tallon, Chairperson of the Finance Committee reported: 1) Finance <br />Committee met on Wednesday, January 9. In attendance were: Conmi..ttee <br />Members Mrs. Saringer, Mr. Leonard, Mr. Ta11on; Mayor Boyle; Service <br />Director Bohlmann; Personnel and Administrative Director Wilamosky. <br />The first item on the agenda was Council-at-Large salaries which must be <br />fixed 30 days prior to the filing deadline for the term beginning the <br />following January. The Committee recommended a $700 a year increase for <br />the four-year term commencing January 1, 1992. This is in ordinance form <br />and will be presented tonight. <br />3 <br />
