Council Minutes of 5/5/92
Audience Partici tion (continued)
0 mi ion. B has built a recycling facility for $5 million. By waiting for
the completion of the BFI facility, we have saved the taxpayers a lot of money.
Mrs. Babas commented that Cl.tles will not make money On recycling tntil there is a
market for recyclables. The market for recyclables will only be created when
individuals choose to purchase recycled goods over regular goods.
Frank Pawloski, 28786 Lynhaven Drive in the Park Ridge .development, said that the
new sewers on his street backed up recently. The residents had water coming up
their driveways. He feels that since Phase II of the sewer work is going on, the
city should monitor the contractor more closely.
Mr. Nashar said that apparently there was a mis-connection when this was first
installed. The correction has been made, and he hopes that the problem has been
resolved.
Mr. Pawloski asked if the sewer had been pressure flooded after the repairs. were
completed
Mr. Bohlmatui answered that the sewer will be dye tested. The problem occurred
because during construction the catch basin had not been corrected. It was the
contractor's error. It is rrt uncommon to uncover errors in large projects such as
this one. At present, we do have two full-time engineering inspectors on the job;
we had as many as three inspectors during Phase I. It is his understanding that
the correction was made today.
LEGISLATION
O~nance No. 91-185 introduced by Mrs. Babas was given its third reading.
