WEST PARK-FOREST RIDGE CIVIC ASSOCIATION QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS RE: CROCKER-STEARNS
' ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS (continued)
2. Many of our residents are concerned about any additional loss of wetlands
as Ohio has already lost 90'ro of what used to be wetlands and according to
the media (EPA), under the new wetland regulations being reviewed will be
reduced to 3°6 left in our state. Bradly Woods (Metro Parks) has hemlock
and woodchuck which we understand are disappearing. Hemlocks need water
soil. Ducks are now prevelant in our area and nesting in our yards.
3. Many of our residents are sad as they say that they have moved from one
area of ;~eautiful wooded property to another only to see roads and/or
builders wipe them out. They mourn the loss of the natural habitat as these
projects change the face of whatever city they reside. Or_e man was
quoted as saying, "I guess the best you can do today is to move someplace
where it looks as if roads and builders cant get a stronghold for at
least 60 years, and then you,ll not be alive to see it." The feeling here
is that if you cant move to a piece of property with the Metro Parks and
wetlands at your back lot line without being encroached upon, then there
is no safe place to move.
:7
dpq( .~y~,yy v v - ~ , . .. ~,f • ~tI'sb+ll.
