Mayor Boyle explained that the street lights had been
placed in an unsafe area where there have been accidents for quite sane time.
With regard to the complaints about drainage, this is an on-going project
that is not complete. The area is being developed by an private concern;
however, the Engineering and Service Departments are closely monitoring the
work.
Mr. Bohlmarm responded to Mr. Dee's comments by saying that he had been in
public life since 1977 aril had never been accuses. of lying. Ale said that Mr.
Dee had complained about the street lighting on r~nerous occasions; he simply
did not want lights placed in that area. Mr. Bohlmar~n told Air. Dee .that
Bradley Road was a dangerous road and street lighting should have been
installed years ago. The road is used by residents walking and jogging aril
children riding their bicycles to the park. Ale noted that Metro Forks had
installed lighting at the entrance to the park for these reasons. After
speaking to Mr. Dee on this situation a rnumber of times, Mr. Bohl~marnl told
him, "let's not worry about it right nova." Same time after that, Air.
Bohlmann had a meeting with representatives of CEI. Everyone attending the
meeting felt that street lights were needed aryd warranted. Mr. BohLnt
spoke to George Cottingham from Metro Parks who was also in favor of the
street lighting. It should be noted that the street lightir~ is not on Metro
Parks land, but in a right-of-way which is awned. by the City of North
Olmsted. Mr. Bohlmarm said that if he had made an error it was perha~ that
he did not call Mr. Dee aril tell him that the street lighting progrsln was
proceeding--the project was begun much faster than he had anticipated. Mr.
Bohlmarm has done his best to work with Mr. Dee an various problems in the
Bradley Road area dating back to 1987 when Mr. Bohlmarni was a Council Member.
Two of these issues were a pesky mosquito problem in the swag land next to
the Dee home and the development of Bradley Oaks Estates. Mr. Bohl~marm
acknowledged there had been problems with the contractor of Bradley Oaks;
however, every attempt has been made to deal with the problems. Ike fait that
he had not lied to Mr. Dee nor misrepresented himself, and he resented the
insinuation that he had.
Mary Ann Koch, 24740 Antler Drive, wanted to know when the recycling program
would begin. Also, she expressed cor~ern about the construction in the
Deerfield developmment. The Koch family is upset because their lawn has been
dug up in an attempt to locate the test tee. Mr. and Mrs. Koch have had
several conversations with the Engineering Department and have sent a letter
to Mayor Boyle regarding repair of their yard. Ms. Koch said that the people
doing the construction work have been rude and have left their yard in a
"mess." They would like the city to pay for the re-seeding of their lawn by
the company that had originally done the landscaping. In addition to the
yards in the area looking a "mess", the streets are full of silt and filth.
Mayor Boyle responded to Ms. Koch's concerns by explain?n~ that the city
recycling program would begin in April or May. A four-bag system will be
used and waste would be separated in the following manner: recyclables;
paper; garbage and non-recyclables; yard waste. The pick-up will be done by
4
