y <br />Council Minutes of 04-20-2010 <br />confidential, and residents are asked to remove the prescription labels prior to <br />arriving. <br />• The Civil Service Commission will be conducting both police lieutenant and <br />sergeant written promotional tests on Saturday, May 22. The deadline to apply is <br />Friday, April 23. The oral assessments are scheduled for June 2 and 3. <br />• Health care costs through April 9 are $ 600,000. This is $81,000 less than 2009 <br />during the same period of time. <br />• The city was successful in its 2010 CDBG Municipal Grant Application. North <br />Olmsted has been awarded a grant in the amount of $100,000 for the relocation of <br />the Emergency Food Cupboard to the city's property on Butternut Ridge Road. <br />To learn more about the project or to find out how to get involved, contact the <br />Planning Department. <br />• The city will be hosting planners from the northeast Ohio area at an APA <br />Cleveland web conference on Wednesday, April 21 from 4pm to 5:30pm in <br />Council chambers. The topic is Development Finance and Pro Formas. <br />• The city is exploring a partnership with the school district to participate as a <br />service location in a state funded summer food program. Children between the <br />ages of 1 and 18 would be eligible for a free meal daily in conjunction with the <br />summer camp program or other recreation department programs. <br />• While the majority of summer leagues are scheduled to start at Springvale in the <br />next several weeks, there are several that have already started. <br />• The first wedding of the season in the ballroom is this Saturday. It is the first of <br />thirty-eight weddings scheduled for this year. <br />• On Monday, May 4, Springvale will host the North Olmsted School District <br />retirement dinner. <br />• This past week, former CLS Director Don Copeland returned to work for the city. <br />He will be working part-time at Springvale assisting with a number of projects <br />they hope to accomplish this summer. <br />• Jackie Chavez-Anderson, Senior Center Administrator, is still working on the <br />Earth Day Seeds of Change program. Donations are still being solicited for <br />beautification projects on city property throughout town and for tree plantings. <br />On Thursday, Apri122, the first of the trees will be planted in the park in front of <br />the Senior Center. <br />• On Friday, May 7 at 1 pm, the Senior Center will sponsor a luncheon and <br />educational program for caregivers of individuals with memory loss. The <br />presenter will be Linda Bliss, R.N,. from Kemper House. This program is <br />possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Aging. Also on the 7, the <br />Senior Walking Club will begin. Registration can be completed by calling the <br />Senior Center. <br />• Free screenings for osteoporosis, cholesterol, glucose and memory loss will be <br />offered at the Senior Center between the dates of May 6 and May 2U. <br />Appointments are necessary and can be made through Tiffany at the Senior <br />Center. <br />• The next Community Life Services Advisory Board meeting is scheduled for <br />Thursday, May 13 in the Mayor's conference room. <br />2 <br />
