Council Minutes of 03-16-2010 <br />~.. n <br />~~ <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2010-27 a Resolution authorizing and directing the <br />Director of Planning to make application on behalf of the City of North Olmsted <br />for a Cuyahoga County 2010 Parks and Playground Grant, further authorizing the <br />Mayor to accept the grant if awarded, and to execute a contract with Cuyahoga <br />County, and declaring an emergency. The city is seeking a $5,000 grant from the <br />County to help spruce up the parks, specifically the grounds surrounding the new <br />location of the Food Cupboard on Butternut. The grant, if awarded, requires no <br />matching funds from the city. The committee voted 3-0 in favor of the <br />Resolution. Councilman Kearney said Planning Director Wenger does a great job <br />seeking out grants and trying to acquire money for the city. She performs many <br />other duties for the city, and she is an unheralded asset to the North Olmsted. <br />Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Intra-Governmental Relations <br />Committee: <br />The Intra-Governmental Relations Committee met on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:45 <br />p.m. Present were committee members Williamson, Jones and Mahoney; Council <br />members Brossard, Barker, Orlowski and Kearney; Council President Limpert; and <br />guests. <br />• On the agenda was Resolution 2010-28 sponsored by Councilman Orlowski. This <br />Resolution establishes April as Fair Housing Month in the City of North Olmsted. <br />Councilman Orlowski asked for suspension of the rules for this Resolution in <br />order to timely observe April as Fair Housing Month. The Resolution was <br />approved 3-0. <br />Councilwoman Jones, Vice Chairwoman of the Intra-Governmental Relations <br />Committee: <br />The Intra-Governmental Relations Committee met Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 7:20 p.m. <br />Present were committee members Jones and Mahoney, Council President Limpert, <br />Council members Brossard, Barker, Orlowski and Kearney; Mayor Kennedy; and <br />Planning Director Wenger. <br />• They met to consider the Mayor's appointment of Miguel Cora to the Cultural <br />Activities Commission to fill an unexpired term. Many Council members knew <br />Mr. Cora previous to this interview. He is an asset to North Olmsted. He has <br />been involved in a number of different activities, and they are please that he has <br />agreed to serve on the Cultural Activities Commission. Councilman Mahoney <br />made a motion to recommend approval of the appointment of Miguel Cora to the <br />Cultural Activities Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman <br />Jones and it was approved 3-0. <br />Councilwoman Jones made a motion to approve the appointment of Miguel Cora to the <br />Cultural Activities Commission to fill the unexpired term of January 1, 2009 to <br />December 31, 2013.
