Council Minutes of 02-16-10
parks ordinance. He said it was a pleasure working with this Council body. He found it
to be a very rewazding and educational experience. He would urge all residents to take a
greater interest in how our city government truly works. He thanked former North
Olmsted Mayor Thomas O'Grady for his overwhelming support when he first brought
this matter to his attention in August 2009. He also thanked Councilman Brossazd and
Councilwoman Dailey Jones for their flexibility and willingness to consider his points of
view and for rewriting this proposal. Without their help and support this amendment
would have never got this faz. Councilwoman Jones said she enjoyed working with him
as well and thanked him for the comments he made to everyone here on Council.
Jennifer Rudolph, 3329 Walter Road had a question with regazd to the Intra-
Governmental Committee meeting that was held last week to discuss 2010-12. When
was that meeting scheduled because typically her understanding is the committee
meetings are scheduled at the end of the Council meetings. Councilman Barker said to
his recollection, after the approval from the Charter Review Commission it went to
committee. The meeting was on the committee schedule and it was also posted on the
website. Rudolph said it wasn't ever scheduled at a Council meeting. Councilman
Barker said he believes there is a 24 hour notice on a committee meeting. Mayor
Kennedy asked Rudolph if she would like to comment on the legislation. Rudolph said
no, personally she thinks it's good legislation. She's just not entirely happy with the
process that it's gone through. She had no idea it was being discussed. It was posted, so
fair enough.
Kacie Armstrong, Branch Manager at Cuyahoga County Public Library North Olmsted
Branch, 27403 Lorain (library) 5680 Great Northern Boulevard (residence) just wanted to
thank everyone for the North Olmsted city official book recommendations which are now
on display at the library. She also wanted to make Council and North Olmsted city
residents aware of two new services that the North Olmsted library is offering for free -
a Job Club that meets on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 which offers free resume help, mock
interviewing and a host of other services to help people get back on their feet and get into
a job. They also have an English as a Second Language class on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 9 to 11. There will be a leadership program for women as well on March
3 at 5:30 p.m. Presenters include Dr. Cheryl Dubsky from North Olmsted, Sazah
Feldman from the Cuyahoga County Public Library, Barbara Danforth from the YWCA,
and Stephanie Morales from Tri-C. They will discuss topics related to Women's History
Month; the struggles that women have been through and the things that they still need to
overcome.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane said he likes to tell the new Council every year that
Ralph Bohlman indoctrinated him to know that they would be the last street to be
shoveled when the snow fell because they really don't go anywhere, and all the through
streets and the main streets have to be done. He commended the Mayor and the service
crew on doing a good. During a recent snowfall, he waved down a city plow driver and
reminded him to not forget Carey Lane and Allendale. When he got home, the street was
done. He thinks that speaks volumes to the quality of people that serve this community.
He also thanked the Mayor for not putting down so much salt this year.
6
