i <br />Council Minutes of 08-02-2011 <br /> <br />• The City of North Olmsted was successful in its CDBG Municipal Grant Program <br />application for the Country Club Boulevard Streetscape Project. The City is the <br />recipient of $350,000 toward traffic safety, efficiency and beautification of the <br />corridor between Lorain Road and Victoria Lane. Construction is anticipated in <br />2012. <br />• Construction is underway on the City Hall Parking Lot Stormwater BMPs <br />project. Parking interruption will last through August. The US EPA will be <br />visiting the project site in September as one of the County's model projects. <br />• Two residential demolition projects will be starting in August. Baumann <br />Enterprises was awarded the contract for the demolition of the Sunset Oval <br />property. A&D Contracting was awarded the contract for the demolition of the <br />Charles Road property. <br />• Dave Demaline was appointed Road Foreman effective August 1, 2011. Dave <br />scored highest on the recent Civil Service exam. Mike Kilbane was promoted to <br />Police Captain on July 13, 2011. Jeff Medves was promoted to Police Lieutenant <br />and Bob Dungan was promoted to Sergeant on July 21, 2011. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• He requested the Assistant Director of Law, Carole Heyward, to prepare a report <br />concerning trends relative to the housing sales. It seems North Olmsted is faring <br />better than northeastern Ohio in terms of sales and average sale prices. <br />• He reviewed commercial temporary sales in the City of North Olmsted with the <br />Safety Director. <br />• He participated in negotiations with the IAFF. <br />• The City of North Olmsted has been named as a defendant in the matter of <br />Eugene Dzambasow v. Brian Bielozer & North Olmsted, et al. This is an alleged <br />after hours altercation between an officer and the Plaintiff. It has been assigned to <br />insurance defense counsel. <br />• He, Asst Law Director O'Malley and Prosecutor Gordillo attended a seminar in <br />Columbus regarding municipal civil issues. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• The financial statements were sent to the State Auditor's office at the end of June. <br />They have not been released publicly yet, but they were able to use them for the <br />Fitch Ratings review in July. The City's AA- rating was affirmed with a stable <br />outlook.
