i Council Minutes of 08-02-2011 • The City of North Olmsted was successful in its CDBG Municipal Grant Program application for the Country Club Boulevard Streetscape Project. The City is the recipient of $350,000 toward traffic safety, efficiency and beautification of the corridor between Lorain Road and Victoria Lane. Construction is anticipated in 2012. • Construction is underway on the City Hall Parking Lot Stormwater BMPs project. Parking interruption will last through August. The US EPA will be visiting the project site in September as one of the County's model projects. • Two residential demolition projects will be starting in August. Baumann Enterprises was awarded the contract for the demolition of the Sunset Oval property. A&D Contracting was awarded the contract for the demolition of the Charles Road property. • Dave Demaline was appointed Road Foreman effective August 1, 2011. Dave scored highest on the recent Civil Service exam. Mike Kilbane was promoted to Police Captain on July 13, 2011. Jeff Medves was promoted to Police Lieutenant and Bob Dungan was promoted to Sergeant on July 21, 2011. Director of Law Gareau: • He requested the Assistant Director of Law, Carole Heyward, to prepare a report concerning trends relative to the housing sales. It seems North Olmsted is faring better than northeastern Ohio in terms of sales and average sale prices. • He reviewed commercial temporary sales in the City of North Olmsted with the Safety Director. • He participated in negotiations with the IAFF. • The City of North Olmsted has been named as a defendant in the matter of Eugene Dzambasow v. Brian Bielozer & North Olmsted, et al. This is an alleged after hours altercation between an officer and the Plaintiff. It has been assigned to insurance defense counsel. • He, Asst Law Director O'Malley and Prosecutor Gordillo attended a seminar in Columbus regarding municipal civil issues. Director of Finance Copfer: • The financial statements were sent to the State Auditor's office at the end of June. They have not been released publicly yet, but they were able to use them for the Fitch Ratings review in July. The City's AA- rating was affirmed with a stable outlook. She reviewed the projected annual revenue loss for the city over the next five years due to cuts in the local government fund, etc. Councilman Barker, Chairman of the Finance Committee: The Finance Committee met Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 6:45 p.m. Present were committee members Barker, Kearney and Schumann; President Limpert; Council 2 .. ,,.~ _, .~,p..~, ,_ ._ I
