Council Minutes of OS-17-2011 <br />.x,~~~ <br />i~_..- <br />the Water Department gained or attempted to gain entry to homes during the last <br />two weeks. No thefts occurred. <br />• Police and fire responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Stearns/Crocker on <br />May 13, 2011. The vehicle traveling northbound on Stearns crossed the lanes of <br />traffic striking the southbound vehicle. A 50 year old male was pronounced dead <br />at the scene and the other driver was transported to Fairview Hospital with serious <br />injuries. <br />• On Saturday evening, the Fire Dept. responded to a house fire on Delmere Drive. <br />Both occupants were safely evacuated the home. Damage estimates exceed <br />$50,000. <br />• Effective the week of May 23, 2011 the trash/recycling/yard waste pick up day <br />will change for some residents from Wednesday to Thursday. Residents affected <br />by this change received notification by Allied Waste. The information will also <br />be posted on the city's website. <br />• The bid opening for the City Hall Parking Lot Stormwater BMPs grant project is <br />this Thursday at noon. <br />• Frostville Museum will be hosting the French & Indian War Encampment May 21 <br />and 22. Also, the Military Timeline takes place on Sunday, May 22, 2011 and <br />will feature re-enactments from the Revolutionary War and Korean War. All <br />Frostville buildings will be open. Admission is free. <br />• The city is preparing for the 10th annual ice show. Over 180 skaters are <br />participating this coming weekend May 20, 2011 at 8pm, May 21, 2011 at 2pm <br />and 8pm and May 22, 2011 at 3pm. <br />• Opening day of Hot Stove and field dedication is taking place on May 21, 2011. <br />• One hundred ninety four campers signed up for summer camp and 80 swimmers <br />for the summer recreation swim team. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• In the area of property maintenance, sentence was recently imposed on a property <br />on Barton Road for exterior violations. There was a minimal fine, and it was <br />taken care of and closed out. There are three cases that remain open and subject <br />to conviction. Two complaints have been authorized and are waiting filing and <br />service. Two complaints have been referred to the Law Dept. from the Building <br />Dept. for prosecution. <br />• In the case of Margaret Benning vs. City of North Olmsted, the mediation hearing <br />is May 25, 2011 in the U.S. Federal District Court. The insurance defense <br />counsel is involved in that. <br />• On May 11, 2011 he participated in discussions with Dispatch and they have <br />reached a resolution. <br />• The city received notice April 27, 2011 regarding an incident involving aid by the <br />City of North Olmsted in which the city assisted Fairview Park in a fleeing <br />suspect situation. There was a collision with a North Olmsted police cruiser. The <br />fleeing suspect was driving someone else's car, and the car owner has filed a <br />claim with the City of North Olmsted.
