~'
Council Minutes of 01-18-2011
always. North Olmsted taught me how to be a public servant in every sense of the word
and that lesson will never be forgotten. While there are many different roads that we take
in life it is those who walk with us that make the journey worthwhile. Thank you for
walking with me.
Councilman Barker said it has been an honor to work with Councilwoman Jones over the
past six years, and she has been a good friend and an asset to the City.
Council President Limpert said that Councilwoman Jones came to this Council with
many talents, and has gained even more over the past six years. He thanked her for her
past and continued service.
Director of Law Gareau said he echoes those words and it's been a great privilege
working with Councilwoman Jones.
Councilman Orlowski congratulated Councilwoman Jones and wished her the best in her
new position. He will miss her as well as the residents of Ward III will. It has been a
pleasure serving with her on Council for the past five years.
The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules:
Second Reading -Ordinance 2011-2; First Reading -Resolutions 2011-3 and 2011-
6.
REPORTS
Mayor Kennedy:
• He said it's been a pleasure to serve and work with Councilwoman Jones, and she
has been an excellent Councilperson in difficult times. He wished her the best of
luck in her new county position, and he's very proud of her.
• The newest City Hall art gallery features artist Lori Lancaster, a North Olmsted
resident. The Cultural Activities Commission is now accepting applications for
artists to be featured the second, third and fourth quarters of 2011.
• The Food Cupboard construction contract has been awarded to Competitive
Contractors. Asbestos testing was conducted in the house, and the report came
back clean. Construction will begin this month.
• Electric was the cause of the fire on Elm Road on January 20, 2011. There were
no injuries. Damages were estimated at $5000.
• Sanitation workers performed CPR on a 64 year old resident on Maria Lane. The
resident was shoveling snow on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Unfortunately the
kind acts by the sanitation workers were not enough to save the resident. The
City and the family of the resident express their thanks for the workers going
above and beyond the call of duty. He extended deepest condolences to the
family.
• Five new police cars have been ordered, and will be delivered in approximately
sixty days.
2
.~ .,
