~~
Council Minutes of 01-18-2011
providing ordinance codification services to the City of North Olmsted, and
declaring an emergency. The committee voted 3-0 for approval of Ordinance
2011-2 with suspension.
Councilman Orlowski, Chairman of the Environmental Control Committee:
The Environmental Control Committee met Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 7:43 p.m.
Present were committee members Barker and Orlowski; Council President Limpert;
Council members Jones, Kearney, Mahoney and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy; Director
of Law Gareau; Director of Finance Copfer; Director of Safety and Service Ritenauer;
and guest.
• The topic of discussion was Resolution 2011-3, a Resolution authorizing and
directing the Director of Public Service to make application on behalf of the City
of North Olmsted fora 2011 Community Recycling Awareness Grant from the
Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District ("CCSWD"); further authorizing the
Mayor to accept the grant if awarded; and to execute a contract with the CCSWD,
and declaring an emergency. The Safety/Service Director explained the
application fora $3,500 grant from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District
(CCSWD) for a Community Recycling Awareness Grant. A mailing may be
conducted or information provided in the annual City magazine about a defined
recycling day to be held at the City Hall parking lot. Republic Waste and other
vendors may be on hand to provide a venue for recycled materials. The printed
material being disseminated will contain a list of materials which can be recycled
and will be distributed to residents and business in North Olmsted. I am always in
favor of the Administration applying for grants which will benefit City, residents
and the environment. The more items which are recycled means less going into
landfills, conserves our resources and consumes less energy in remanufacturing
products. Suspension of the rule requiring three readings was requested by the
Safety/Service Director. The grant application is time sensitive and due on
February 4, 2011. The Chairman made a motion to recommend Resolution 2011-
3 to all of Council with suspension of the rule requiring three readings. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and the vote was 2-0 to recommend
approval with suspension. The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
Councilman Mahoney, Chairman of the Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee:
The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 7:40
p.m. Present were committee members Mahoney, Williamson and Kearney; Council
President Limpert; Council members Barker, Jones and Orlowski; Mayor Kennedy; and
Director of Safety and Service Ritenauer.
• Discussed were two liquor permits: The first was liquor permit no. 69512790195
a transfer to Pizza Hut of America, Inc.
