He announced that next
Tuesday, January 25, 2011 will be Community Council's kick-off meeting to plan for
North Olmsted Home Days. Since September 2010 she
has been serving a dual role as the Branch Manager of North Olmsted and Olmsted Falls,
so she has not been attending meetings lately. She presented the following facts:
Cuyahoga County Public Library System ranks as the 5th busiest branch in the country;
North Olmsted Branch ranks 6th in our system in 2010; Library card holders borrowed
867,234 items from the North Olmsted Branch in 2010; North Olmsted Branch had
419,936 customer visits in 2010. The North Olmsted Branch continues to offer GED
classes, ESL classes, technology classes and they offer a homework center. Their goal in
2011 is to have one million items borrowed from the library. Mayor Kennedy thanked
both Jeff Peepers and Kacie Armstrong for their service to North Olmsted.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane said he's known Councilwoman Jones for more than
six years. She worked on the Charter Review Commission where he had the pleasure of
attending meetings and talking with her. He and Jones have had many good
conversations, and he has a special place in his heart for her because his daughter is just
six months older than her. They have been up against each other in a rather tenuous race
in which Jones came out victorious, and she earned it. He is very pleased that she has the
position with the County. He has listened to Jones speak to groups of people, and she is a
wonderful communicator. He doesn't think Ed FitzGerald could have picked a better
person to fill that position. No matter what happened politically, he has the utmost
respect for what Jones is doing, and he wishes her and her family the very best.
6
