Most importantly, there were no °~~ injuries. • Republic Waste has provided the third quarter report compazing 2010 to 2011. Under the new automated system, the city's recycling has dramatically improved. In the month of July, 112 tons were recycled in 2010 and 251 tons were recycled in July of 2011. In August 2010, 93 tons were recycled while 252 tons were recycled in August 2011. • The Recreation Center held their second annual New Year's Eve party this past weekend. Over 250 people attended. • During 2012, the City of North Olmsted will be the host city of the West Shore Council of Governments meetings. These meetings aze scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Caucus room. • On Thursday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. he will deliver the annual State of the City address. This event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and will be held at the Radisson. Director of Law Gareau: • He recognized the Building Department and Planning/Development Director Kim Wenger on the issue of property maintenance enforcement. There has been an increase in the number of referrals to the Law Dept. which is a good thing because they aze reinforcing it. There were 9 new referrals since his last report. Three of those resulted in immediate charges and there were 5 warning letters. • Negotiations are moving along as well as can be expected. Director of Finance Copfer: • There was over a million dollars in Estate Tax for 2011, which is the highest collection of Estate Tax since she has seen since she has been working for the City. In December, the city ended up 1.15% over plan which was last year's actual for Income Tax collection. • They received notification from the Government Finance Officers Association that the city's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for December 31, 2010 that they received a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting. That is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and it represents a significant accomplishment by the City of North Olmsted and all managers.
