Council Minutes of 01-03-2012 <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2011-141 which is a Resolution authorizing the Mayor <br />to advertise for bids for diesel fuel and gasoline products for use by the City of <br />North Olmsted, as per specifications on file, and authorizing the Mayor to enter <br />into a contract to purchase such supplies. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend <br />approval of Resolution 2011-141 with suspension. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Jeff Sturgeon, 3092 W. 231 asked if there was grant money for the traffic signal lights, <br />particularly for the blue signals that light up in case of an emergency. Mayor Kennedy <br />said that is a major project and they are applying for grant money for it. He believes it's <br />an $8 million dollar project. Recently the city extended the traffic lights on Lorain from <br />Brookpark to Porter and it has made a difference. Gareau said the city did look at this <br />issue several years ago, and one of the issues is North Olmsted is a main cut through for <br />other municipalities and if transponders should be installed in vehicles from other cities. <br />The logistics of doing that presented a bit of a challenge. Mayor Kennedy said the city <br />will certainly look into it and they are in the process of a traffic study at the corner of <br />Clague and Lorain. <br />Don Pangrac, 23470 Sharon Drive said on the corner of Lorain and Clague where the old <br />Sunoco station used to be, if you're making a left turn at night from Lorain onto Clague, <br />it's like driving into a "black hole". The street light has not been operational. Mayor <br />'"°~ Kennedy said they will look into it. <br />.. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Ordinance 2011-134 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. An <br />Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to renew the contract between the City and Karrie Skall <br />Tipton for the provision of professional gymnastics instruction services at the North <br />Olmsted Recreation Center for an additional two (2) years. Councilman Mahoney moved <br />for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. <br />Ordinance 2011-134 adopted. <br />Ordinance 2011-138 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and Council member Barker was <br />given its third reading. An Ordinance amending Administrative Code Section 131.01 of <br />the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted to provide authorization for the <br />Mayor to sign and file grant application forms to obtain supplemental revenue or other <br />tangible resources for the benefit of the City of North Olmsted, excepting however grants <br />wherein city matching funds exceed expenditure limitation. Councilman Barker moved <br />for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed <br />unanimously.
