Council Minutes of 01-03-2012 • Discussed was Resolution 2011-141 which is a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to advertise for bids for diesel fuel and gasoline products for use by the City of North Olmsted, as per specifications on file, and authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract to purchase such supplies. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of Resolution 2011-141 with suspension. AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION Jeff Sturgeon, 3092 W. 231 asked if there was grant money for the traffic signal lights, particularly for the blue signals that light up in case of an emergency. Mayor Kennedy said that is a major project and they are applying for grant money for it. He believes it's an $8 million dollar project. Recently the city extended the traffic lights on Lorain from Brookpark to Porter and it has made a difference. Gareau said the city did look at this issue several years ago, and one of the issues is North Olmsted is a main cut through for other municipalities and if transponders should be installed in vehicles from other cities. The logistics of doing that presented a bit of a challenge. Mayor Kennedy said the city will certainly look into it and they are in the process of a traffic study at the corner of Clague and Lorain. Don Pangrac, 23470 Sharon Drive said on the corner of Lorain and Clague where the old Sunoco station used to be, if you're making a left turn at night from Lorain onto Clague, it's like driving into a "black hole". The street light has not been operational. Mayor '"°~ Kennedy said they will look into it. .. LEGISLATION Ordinance 2011-134 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to renew the contract between the City and Karrie Skall Tipton for the provision of professional gymnastics instruction services at the North Olmsted Recreation Center for an additional two (2) years. Councilman Mahoney moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Ordinance 2011-134 adopted. Ordinance 2011-138 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and Council member Barker was given its third reading. An Ordinance amending Administrative Code Section 131.01 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted to provide authorization for the Mayor to sign and file grant application forms to obtain supplemental revenue or other tangible resources for the benefit of the City of North Olmsted, excepting however grants wherein city matching funds exceed expenditure limitation. Councilman Barker moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Ordinance 2011-13 8 adopted.
