Council Minutes of 06-18-2013
terms would coincide with the full terms of Council members making it easier to
track and to eliminate reappointments within the same term of elected service.
• The third item on the agenda was a review of the Ethics Commission.
Recommended was the elimination of section 107.14 of the Code of Ethics
(powers and duties of the Ethics Commission). The city is duplicating the duties
of the Ohio Ethics Commission. Ina 2010 review of the boards and commissions,
the Law Director recommended the elimination of the above section. The
sentence would also be added any perceived violation, conflict of interest and/or
unethical conduct may be referred by anyone to the Ohio Ethics Commission.
These items will be handled through legislation.
Councilman Orlowski made a motion to approve the appointment of Bradley Doane to
the Arts Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson and
passed unanimously. Bradley Doane appointed to the Arts Commission 7-0.
Councilman Orlowski made a motion to approve the appointment of Nicole McCain to
the Arts Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson. Roll
Call: Orlowski, no with comment. This is a good person and a great asset to the City of
North Olmsted. However, as an employee of the City of North Olmsted I am not in favor
of her appointment to any board or commission. Roll call continued: Williamson, no
with comment. While she is a valuable employee to the city and would serve the
commission well, as anon-resident of the city and a member of the staff I am not in favor
of this appointment. Roll Call continued: Barker, yes; Smith, yes; Brossard, yes;
Schumann, yes; Kearney, yes. Coletta Strippy appointed to the Arts Commission 5-2.
Councilman Orlowski made a motion to approve the appointment of Annie Kilbane to the
Arts Commission.
