Council Minutes of 06-18-2013 <br />Councilman Orlowski made a motion to approve the appointment of David Wahl to the <br />Arts Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson and passed <br />~~<~•- unanimously. David Wahl appointed to the Arts Commission 7-0. <br />Councilman Orlowski made a motion to approve the appointment of Lauren Suter to the <br />Arts Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson and passed <br />unanimously. Lauren Suter appointed to the Arts Commission 7-0. <br />Councilman Kearney, Vice-Chairman of the Building, Zoning & Development <br />Committee: <br />The BZD Committee met Monday, June 17, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Present were committee <br />members Kearney and Barker; Council President Jones; Council members Schumann, <br />Smith and Orlowski; Mayor Kennedy and Planning/Development Director Wenger. <br />• CMS13-09 McDonald's located at 27322 Lorain Road and CMS13-10 Water <br />Tower Square located at 27264 Lorain Road. This proposal is to buy a portion of <br />land from the Water Tower Square Plaza and attach is to McDonald's property so <br />they can add a second drive-thru lane. Variances for signs and setbacks are <br />included. Because it entails two properties, two approvals must be made. Both <br />were approved by the committee. <br />Councilman Kearney made two motions, one to approve CMS13-09 McDonald's and <br />another to approve CMS13-10 Water Tower Square subject to recommendations by the <br />Planning and Design Commission. The motions were seconded by Councilman Barker <br />'^ and passed unanimously. CMS13-09 McDonald's and CMS13-10 Water Tower Square <br />both approved 7-0. <br />• CMS13-12 Mattress Firm located at 26400 Lorain Road -This proposal involves <br />a demolition of a two-story building by Boston Market. The new Mattress Firm <br />building will be a welcome improvement to that corner. A number of building <br />and setback variances were granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals. The <br />committee voted 2-0 to recommend approval of CMS13-12 Mattress Firm. <br />Councilman Kearney made a motion to approve CMS13-12 Mattress Firm subject to <br />recommendations set forth by the Planning and Design Commission. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. CMS13-12 Mattress Firm <br />approved 7-0. <br />• CMS13-15 North Olmsted Middle School Annex Demo located at 27253 <br />Butternut Ridge Road -This proposal consists of the demolition of the existing <br />middle school annex building and restoring the site with parking and landscaping <br />site improvements. The Landmarks Commission approved the demolition of the <br />building due to its poor condition. The committee voted 2-0 to recommend <br />approval of CMS13-15 Middle School Annex Demo. <br />,, Councilman Kearney made a motion to approve CMS13-15 Middle School Annex Demo <br />'~,,. subject to the landscaping modifications set forth by the Planning and Design <br />5 <br />
