Council Minutes of 02-19-2013 Councilman Barker, Chairman of the Finance Committee: He commended former Council President Limpert. The Finance Committee met Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Present were committee members Barker, Schumann and Kearney; Council President Jones; Council members Brossard, Orlowski and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Safety/Service Director Thomas, Human Resources Director Farver and Planning/Development Director Wenger. • Discussed first was Ordinance 2013-13 which is an Ordinance establishing and fixing the compensation for the elected officials of the City of North Olmsted for the term of office commencing January 1, 2014 and ending December 31, 2017 and declaring an emergency. Report is attached. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of Ordinance 2013-13. • Discussed last was Ordinance 2013-12 which is an Ordinance to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures for the City of North Olmsted for the year ending December 31, 2013, as amended. Report is attached. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of Ordinance 2013-12 with amendments and suspension. Councilman Barker made a motion to amend Ordinance 2013-12. The motion was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed unanimously. Ordinance 2013-12 amended. _~- Councilman Barker took a moment of personal privilege to announce that NOCCA will be having its annual swearing-in of new board members on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Embassy Suites in Independence at 6:00 p.m. with a "meet and greet" at 5:30 p.m. Councilman Orlowski took a moment of personal privilege to congratulate Limpert on his retirement and thanked him for his years of service to the city. Councilman Kearney, Chairman of the Recreation, Public Parks & Buildings Committee: The Recreation Committee met Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 7:21 p.m. Present were committee members Kearney, Brossard and Orlowski; Council President Jones; Council members Barker, Schumann and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Safety/Service Director Thomas, Human Resources Director Farver and Planning/Development Director Wenger. • Discussed was Ordinance 2013-20 which is an Ordinance amending Section 957.01 of Chapter 957 (Alcoholic Beverages on Public Grounds) of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted in order to permit beer to be sold and consumed at the Gaelic Games to be held at Barton Bradley Park over Labor Day weekend in 2013 as a one-time event. Mark Owens, a representative of the Gaelic Games, explained that this organization has already invested $70,000 to bring the national tournament to North Olmsted. The beer sales would follow strict rules similar to North Olmsted Home Days rules. The committee voted 3-0 to ~*'° recommend approval of Ordinance 2013-20. ,~;:: 4
