An amendment <br />was determined to be required by the committee to ensure that access is preserved <br />for maintenance and storage of items is prohibited between back-to-back fences <br />so that the lawn in between can be properly maintained. The committee voted 2-0 <br />to recommend approval or Ordinance 2013-2. <br />Councilman Brossard, Chairman of the Streets & Transportation Committee: <br />The Streets and Transportation Committee met Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. <br />Present were committee members Brossard, Orlowski and Williamson; Council members <br />Barker, Mahoney and Schumann; Mayor Kennedy, Safety/Service Director Thomas and <br />Planning/Development Director Wenger. <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2013-6 which is a Resolution dispensing with the RFP <br />process and authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with Cuyahoga <br />County/The Cuyahoga County Engineer for the purpose of providing inspection <br />services for bridges and culverts, and declaring an emergency. Wenger pointed <br />out that this is the third consecutive year that the city has employed the County <br />Engineer's department to inspect bridges within our city limits. The cost is more <br />advantageous to the city than having the inspections done in-house. Plus, the <br />County is more properly trained to inspect bridges. The cost has gone down each <br />year: 2011 - $10,300 and in 2013 $8,800. The committee voted 3-0 to <br />recommend approval of Resolution 2013-6. <br />,~ Councilman Mahoney announced that there is a Public Hearing scheduled for January 22, <br />2013 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers to discuss Ordinance 2012-125 (indoor firing <br />range legislation). <br />Councilman Schumann thanked the gentlemen who submitted their applications for the <br />President of Council position. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane referenced the iPads for City Council. He asked <br />Copfer what the $30 per month fee pays for. Councilwoman Williamson said she stated <br />in her report that the idea of having a data plan that would give Council access all of the <br />time to the internet was discussed. Seeing that it was $30 per month per device, Council <br />rejected the idea and will not go forward with the monthly fee. Wi-Fi in the building will <br />give Council access to the internet. Lambert asked how Council members will access the <br />internet from their homes. Lambert asked if the Wi-Fi they use for their own personal <br />use will be their interconnect to the city's tablet as part of it. He asked if the city will be <br />subsidizing paying for part of or giving any consideration to the Councilperson for the <br />use of their personal Wi-Fi for business use. Mayor Kennedy replied no, the city will not <br />be paying for Wi-Fi for Council members outside of City Hall. Lambert brought to the <br />Administration and Council's attention about possible future litigation regarding public <br />records requests and iPads. Gareau said the city has a policy with respect to the computer <br />'"" ' usage for the City of North Olmsted's computers which is very clear in what is permitted. <br />4 <br /> <br />
