Council Minutes of 5/18/93 <br />Restaurant at 24250 Lorain Road. Mr. Bruce Weekley from Venture Construction was <br />in attendance to explain the plans. The outside of the building will be <br />repainted and new awnings and a monument sign will be added. The landscaping <br />around the sign will be upgrad~l., and the dumpster area will be improved and <br />enclosed. It is possible that a variance for the sign will be needed. The plans <br />were approved by ARB on April 21 and by Planning Commi.ss~ion on April 27. Mrs. <br />Saringer moved to approve with the recommendations of ARB and Planning Commission <br />and with the condition that approval is granted by BZA for the sign variance; <br />second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairperson of the Environmental Control Committee, reported: 1) The <br />Cuyahoga County Planning Commission has ca~npieted the District Solid Waste <br />Manageme.xit Plan. A copy of this plan is on file at City Hall. A 30-day public <br />comment period will be observed from May 15 to June 13, 1993. In addition, three <br />public hearings .will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at <br />the following locations: June 28, 1993 at Cleveland City Hall, 601 Lakeside <br />Avenue, Room 24; Jude 29, 1993 at Garfield Hts. City Hall, 54{37 Turney Road, <br />Council Cha~-bers; June 30, 1993 at Brook Park City Hall, 6161 Engle Road, Council <br />Chambers. <br />Mr. McKay thanked members of Council, the Administration and everyone who had <br />sent him well wishes and prayers during his recent illness. <br />Mayor Boyle commented with regard to the solid waste plan that the County <br />Planning Commission has asked. the Ohio Legislature to set up a different fee <br />schedule because Cuyahoga County expmrts mare solid waste than it imports. The <br />schedule set up by the Legislature is insufficient to pay the costs of the county <br />and does not provide the vehicle whereby the county can rain the money to <br />support solid waste and recycling. The County Planning Commission has asked <br />Senator Suhadolnik, Chairperson of the State Environmental Coamittee, to review <br />this ord. give the county some relief; however, he has not done so. If this <br />situation continues, eventually there will be minimal to no recycling in Cuyahoga <br />County. It is very important far citizens to attend the public herrings so that <br />this issue can be addressed. <br />Mr. Nashar asked that the members of Girl Scout Troop 1067 who were in attendance <br />come to the mieraphor~ and give their names. The following Cadettes of Troop <br />1067 were in attendance: Katie McCormick, Emily Arundel, Stephanie Furst, Jerniie <br />McGuire, Katie Rainey, Stacey Sakacsi. The girls were recognized by all present. <br />Mrs. Saringer reported for Mr. Lind, Chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) <br />The co~mittee has discussed encl. approved Ordinance 93-72 which provides for the <br />issuance and sale of X400,000 rtes in anticipation of the issuance of bonds for <br />the purpose of acquiring real estate and paying the costs of construction of a <br />fire station. <br />Mrs. Babas, Chairperson of the Intro-Goverr~ental Relations, Legislative and <br />Long-Range Planning Committee, reported: i) The Mayor has appointed Lois Zolar <br />to the Civil Service Commission. Mrs. Zolar has been involved in community <br />service as a Girl Scout leader, an active member of the Church of the Advent, a <br />Tele-care caller, a member of the Pine School PTA Board, and an active member of <br />the Democratic Club.
