Council Minutes of 5/5/93
Audience Partici tion (continued)
of ice that shows reen Dr ve has been swept at least three times this year.
The city is much cleaner than it was four years ago. At that time, the city had
to rent a street sweeper twice a year. This Administration has invested in the
proper equipment.
From the audience, Mr. Fleger suggested that the city had no money four years ago
when Mr. Boyle was Finance Director..
Mayor Boyle stated that in 1989 he received an international award for presenting
financial reports. Isis financial reports showed exactly where the money was, acid
no money was hidden. As the Finance Director, he fulfilled his Charter responsi-
bilities. Since he has been Mayor, he has put in the system that hss~ repaired
city streets and has used Myers monies properly. As the Finance Director, it
was his duty to report on the money. As to why the former Administration could
not find money for city programs, Mr. Fleger should ask the former Mayor.
President Boel~er explained to the residents that Council does urxlerstand that
these streets need to be repaired. Deteriorating streets have been a problem for
years, and we now have an on-going program of repair.
Margaret Kaminski, an Ambaur Drive resident, made the comment that the street has
no curbs and no street lights. There are two 90 degree turns within 80 yards,
and the street is narrow and dark. It is an unsafe road for the r~ghborhood
children. Mrs. Kaminski is grateful that the city will soon put down the hot
patch.
Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Streets & Drainage Committee, commented that once
the legislation is presented to Council for Noreen and Ambour Drive, he would
like to set up a time schedule to be shared with the residents.
Ray Koch, Antler Drive, said that the evening's conversation had been stimulating
and had motivated people to think. He felt the people in attendance were doing a
service by getting everyone to think about the process. He suggested that the
residents attend the next Town Hall meeting which will be held in Ward II. This
meeting will take place on Juz~ l0 at Maple Elementary School
James Fleger, South Oxford Oval, ecxrmented that he had attended the previous
Council meeting and had been told that an ordinance suthori~ing engineering for
his street would be before Council. He wanted to know the status of this
legislation.
Mr. Nashar said that this would be discussed at the next Streets & Drainage
meeting to be held on Monday, May 17, at 7;30 p.m. Committee meetings are open
to the public and Mr. Fleger is welcome to attend.
Mr. Bohlmarn said that the engineering proposals for 13 streets were due on
Friday.
