Also, `S~o solicitation" stickers will be sent to all residents <br />for use if they so choose. <br />5) An article in today's edition of the Chronicle Telegram discusses the a~mexation of <br />Olmsted Township by the cities of North Olmsted and Brook Park. Mayor Boyle noted <br />that the article does state that this is a rumor, and he said that he and Brook Park Mayor <br />Coyne have not discussed the annexation of Olmsted Township. <br />6) ~PPY Thanksgiving to everyone. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) On Friday, November 18, a meeting will be held with <br />the State and Federal EPA. <br />2) Met with Mayor Boyle today to discuss senior citizen hous~g. <br />3) Currently working on a brief in the Court of Appeals with regard to the case of the City <br />of North Olmsted vs. Ortez. <br />4) Have notified RTA of suggested changes to the proposed bus line contract. <br />5) A comprehensive application for peddlers/soficitors has been developed. The next yep <br />is to provide `~o solicitation" stickers to residents who wish to use them <br />Finance Director Burns reported: 1) At the time of closing on the Springvale purcha,~ in <br />October, the city deposited $4,020,000 into the escrow account. This week we received <br />back $48,448 from the escrow fiords because of a tax proration. He has been working <br />with the Safety Department to provide a smooth transition of ownership. <br />2) The Federal Reserve has raised sihort-term interest rates by 3/4 of a percent. As a rule, <br />the short-term rate increases do not aff~t the city to a great extent. However, last week <br />the long-term rates increased by a half of a percentage point. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee, reported: <br />1) The Safety Committee met to discuss a new liquor permit for Manhattan Deli, 24180 <br />Lorain Road. The committee had no objection to the liquor permit. Mr. Nashar moved <br />that Council have no objection to the C 1, C2 liquor permit for Manhattan Deli, 24180 <br />Lorain Road; second by Mr. Limpert; motion passed unanimously. <br />2) The committee had no objection to the transfer of the Springvale liquor permit. Mr. <br />Nashar moved that Council have no objection to the transfer of the DS liquor permit from <br />Biddulph Inc., DBA Springvale Ballroom & Country Club Golf Course to City of North <br />Olmsted; second by Mr. Lunpert; motion passed unanimously. <br />3) Mr. Nashar and Mr. Lit~ert are working on establishing an exterior home maintenance <br />code. Safety Iirector Kesler and Building Commissioner Conway are lending their help in <br />the establishing of the home maintenance standards. <br />4) At a recent Kiwanis meeting, Brian Driscoll, Cuyahoga County project manager for the <br />Stearns/Crocker extension, said that the target date for start-up has been moved back to <br />the 1999/2000 construction season. <br /> <br />2 <br />
