Council Minutes of 1/18/94 <br />2. On behalf of Human Resources Director Copeland, Mr. McKay pounced that the <br />city will hold a public wring with regard to Ccxnmunity Block Grant fiends. The <br />hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m., February 3, 1994, in Council Chambers. l~rth <br />Olmsted is eligible for a portion of more than $1,500,000 to be xeceived in <br />Federal fiords and administered by the Cuyahoga Gounty -Board of Commissioners. <br />The money may be used for housing and c.ty development activities, and <br />residents are encouraged to attend. and voice their opinions on how the ftgxl:s may <br />best be used in North 0]msted. <br />Mr. Lind, Chairperson of the Finance Comtna.ttee, reported: 1) The committee met <br />on January 12 and in attendance were committee members M~Kay and Lind; Council <br />Members Nashar and Saringer; Finance Director Burns; Service Director Bohlmarui. <br />The following was discussed: <br />a. Ordinance 93-159, which is the $4.l million note for the purchase of Spring- <br />vale Country Club. The committee. recommended holding the legislation in <br />committee until pertinent tax and financial information caxi be obtained.. Also, <br />Ordinance 93-160, which i.s a companion ordinance, will be held in committee. <br />b. Appropriations for 1994, which will also be discussed at the next committee <br />meeting of January 26. <br />Mrs. Bahas, Chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee, <br />reported: 1) The Recreation Commission met last week to discuss proposals for <br />updating and improving North Olmsted Park and Clague Road Park. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Public Safety Health and Welfare Committee, moved <br />to approve a liquor permit transfer from Romiano's Macaroni Grill, 25001 Country <br />Club Blvd.. to Brinker Restaurant Corp. at the same address; second by Mr. McKay; <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Musial, Chairperson of the Transportation Committee, scheduled a meeting for <br />7 p.m. on January 26. <br />Mr. Limpert, Chairperson of the Environmental Control Committee, reported: <br />1) The legislation to approve the county Solid Waste Management Plan will be <br />discussed in committee on January 26 at 6:45 p.m. <br />2) The county will hold a public hearing on the Solid Waste Management Plan at <br />7:30 p.m., January 31, 1994, in the North Olmsted Council Ch~nbers. <br />Audience Participation <br />Margaret McKay, 197 Columbia Road, felt that the city would not be saving money <br />by changing gas companies because of the many free services offered to consumers <br />by East Ohio Gas. Mr. Burns explained that the city was only changing the <br />supplier. East Ohio would still be receiving a reasonable income from the <br />administrative and transmission fees on the gas line. <br />Paul Miller, 3941 Pine Circle, wanted to relay the appreciation of neighbors in <br />the Forest Wood and Laurel Wood developmients with city services during the <br />current inclement weather. The homeowners would like to suggest that snow <br />removal crews drive to the left of cul-de-sac islands so that the snow is pushed <br />into the islands and away from driveway aprons. Mayor Boyle said that this <br />should be the practice. <br />5 <br /> <br />
