Council Minutes of 11/8/95 <br />Resolution No. 95-138 introduced by Mr. McKay on behalf of Mr. Lmd was given its <br />third reading. A resohrtion authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids <br />for pulva-mixing on various streets in the City of North Olmsted, as per specifications now <br />on file in his office, and authorizing the Mayor to contract for same and declaring an <br />emergency. Mr. Lind moved for adoption; second by Mr. McKay; :motion passed <br />unanimously. Resohrtion No. 95-138 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 95-139 introduced by Mr. McKay on behalf of Mr. Lind was. given its <br />third readmg. A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise far bids <br />for cracksealmg on various streets in the City of North Olmsted, as per slecifications now <br />on file in his office, and audtorizing the Mayor to co~ract for same ac-d declaring an <br />emergency. Mr. Lind moved for adoption; second by Mr. Limpert; motion passed <br />unanimously. Resolution No. 95-139 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 95-140 introduced by Mr. McKay on behalf of Mr. Lind was given its <br />third reading. A resolution authorizing the Director of Pubfic Service to advertise for bids <br />for partial depth concrete joint repair on various streets in the City of North Cllmsted, as <br />per specifications now on file in his office, and authorizing the Mayor to contract for same <br />and declaring an emergency. Mr. Lind moved for adoption; second by Mr. Limpert; <br />motion passed unanimously. Resohution No. 95-140 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 95-141 introduced by Mr. McKay on behalf of Mr. Lmd was given its <br />~` third reading. A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids <br />for diesel fuel and gasoline products for use by the City of North Olmsted, as per <br />specifications now on file in his office, and .authorizing the Mayor to contract for same, <br />and declaring an emergency. Mr. Lind moved for adoption; second by Mr. Nashar; <br />motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 95-141 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 95-142 introduced by Mayor Boyle was given its third readmg. A <br />resohrtion urging the Ohio Legislature to reject House Bill 68, which bill is due for <br />consideration and will, if approved, greatly relax the present prohibition. agar citizens <br />carrying concealed weapons on their persons. Mr. Nashar moved for adoption; second by <br />Mr. Lmd. Before the vote was taken, a lengthy discussion ensued. Mr. Musial questioned <br />as to whether Council was being premature in passing this resolution since it will be <br />undergoing a series of modifications by the General Assembly. Mr. Limpert said he had <br />the same concern. Mayor Boyle commented that Representative Kasputis had told. him <br />that he planned to meet with the Governor about this bill. However, the Governor has <br />stated that he did not like the bill at all and planned to veto it. He feels that our resolution <br />adds strength to the Governor's posit. The Mayor noted that our legislation, as well as <br />Mr. Kasputis' bill, does call for training. If a compromise does come about, he hopes that <br />training will be included in the leipr~'slation. However, he is still personally opposed to any <br />law that would expand the ability of individuals to carry concealed weapons. The law <br />enforcement agencies in the State, inchuling our own Police Department, are opposed to <br />the proposed bill. Mr. Limpert stated that he agreed the bill under its presem form is not <br />5 <br />
