Council Minutes of 8/15/95 <br />Mr. Lind commented that he had attended the Planning Commission meeting when this <br />development was discussed and the developer will have 600 to 900 feet of 6 foot pipe <br />under the parking lot. This should help to reduce the amount of water coming off of the <br />large area of development. Mayor Boyle stated that the city had changed retention <br />requirements for commercial and residential propeKty. However, he felt it was important <br />to note the biggest factor is the choke. Even though the developer is ' ' the water <br />in a 6 foot pipe, it will then be choked to a much smaller pipe before it is released into the <br />city's sewer system That is what will hold down the flooding. Mr. McKay noted that the <br />regulations mow require the ~% runoff be of a one-year rain, which is an even further <br />reduction. The question was called on Mrs. Sarminge~'s motion to approve McCormick <br />Place Shopping Center, and the motion was unanimously approved. <br />b. Laurie's Dance Studio, 30036 Lorain Road, a proposal to construct an add~ion to the <br />rear of the existing building. Preseaiting the plans were Suzanne KemQ-Kopko from <br />Mongello Associates and Laurie Adinr the owner. The BZA approved a ~ecial pe~rmt to <br />add to anon-conforming dwelling. The BZD Committee chose a light teal color for the <br />existing building and expansion. The plea was approved by ARB and the Planning <br />Commission. Mrs. Beringer moved to approve the ~ec~l permit and addition with all the <br />recommendations of ARB, ~g Commission and the BZD Committee and contingent <br />upon the approved engineering plans; second by Mr. McKay; motion passed unanimously. <br />c. Therm-All Inc., 31387 North Uhnsted Indu~xial Parkway, a proposal to construct an <br />addition. Mr. Krekus, the architect, presented the plans. The proposal was approved by <br />the Planning Commission on July 11. At the Plamring Commission meeting, Assistant <br />Engineer McDermott stated he had no problem with the proposal since they would be <br />increasing the retention system Electrical and mechanical drawings and e~gimeering plans <br />must be resubmitted. Mrs. Beringer moved to approve contingent upon the resubmission <br />of approved electrical, mechanical and engineering-plans and with the r datioars of <br />Planning Commission and the BZD Committee; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />d. Fortney and Weygandt, Inc., P. P. 233-06-015 and 233-06-O1 1, located on the south <br />side of Bradley Road, southwest of Wild ~k Drive, a proposal to construct atwo-dory <br />office building. The plans were approved by A,RB on July 19 and by Planning <br />Commission on July 25. Bob Weygandt, the architect, preserved the plans and Bob <br />Fortney, the owner, was in attendance along with Greg Fred. The plans calls fora 24,000 <br />square foot structure with a partial basement and two floors of office space. Planning <br />Commission's suggestions to the BZD Committee were discussed and agreed upon per <br />the Commission's July 25 meeting. The engineering plans must be submntted and <br />approved. Mrs. Beringer moved to approve contingent upon the submission. and approval <br />of the engineering plans with all of the recommendations of the ARB, Plananing <br />Commission and BZD Committee; second by Mr. McKay; motion passed unanimously. <br />e. Lone Star Steakhouse and Saloon of 0-hio, to be located on the south side of Country <br />Club Boulevard, east of Great Northern Boulevard and west of Coltunbia Road. The <br />Engineering Department informed the BZD Committee that a prohlesn exisrted on the plat <br />of the lot split, it contagrs a condhion that does not comely with the platting ordinance, <br />and it will have to be submitted to the Planning Commission. Therefore, no action will be <br />taken on this proposal this evening. <br />5 <br />
